Notes:
Using Belgian malts and American hops and yeast, LA-31 Bière Pâle is a distinct new style of beer. Traditionally brewed, we classify it as a Bière Pâle, or Louisiana Pale Ale. It is bronze colored with a biscuity malt center, herbal hop flavors and a gentle, mellow bitterness. This beer is crafted to enhance the unique cuisine and lifestyle of South Louisiana.

12 ounce bottle -> Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass

This beers pours up a very clear medium glod with a nice one finger head, and plenty of lacing. The nose is pine, biscuit, resin, grasses, and citrus. Taste is fairly mild but pretty well balanced between malt and hops. Mouthfeel is nice with adequate carbonation. A decent beer if undistinguished.

First off, this is way more English pale ale than American to me. There is a minimal hop influence that should be a good bit more. I'm not talking that I want an obnoxious slap to the mouth. I just want something. Or, something more. Nice toasted tone to it, if I'm going to be positive about something.

This was an expensive single, even by NYC standards. I would expect more for the price. Though I am happy to support a brewery out of a state that doesn't have a robust brewing scene.

Tastes like Sam Adams made with Louisiana water.

The 1st sentence is wholly accurate it's just that I have to use a minimum of 250 characters.
Crap, still like 90 characters to go. Well, I'm from La. and in my opinion they used well water or maybe even bayou water. I notice it in the after-taste, but overall it's ok.

Appearance: An impressive arrival, with a two-fingered head squatted on the amber liquid; delivered copious amounts of lace on the way down

Smell: Graham cracker malt, with nuts, stone fruit and earthy hops

Taste: Graham cracker malt, up front, with the fruits, nuts and herbal hops building in the middle; well-balanced, after the swallow and in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Nothing spectacular and, for a new "style" it could have more of a Belgian character; still the malt flavors were intriguing and while there is not that much of a hop profile, the beer was very well-balanced

Serving type: on-tap
