Notes:
A mix of ale and lager.
When introduced, this beer was an Altbier. Later, it became a blend of an ale and a pale lager.

The colour is gold (7 EBC), the liquid clear. The three finger head is compact and uneven. It sinks slowly leaving some lacing.
The smell is malty with some semi-sweet caramel flavours. Hints of apricots and a somewhat chemical bitterness. There are some phenolic hints of soap.
The taste got both clean lager-like flavours and fruity ale-flavours. Lots of malt, but not too much sweetness. Some chemical bitter notes with hints of red berries and hay. The aftertaste is quite mild, short and mostly sweet plus a touch of metallic bitterness.
The carbonation is strong and lager-like with small bubbles. The liquid is mid-smooth.

A 50 cl brown short-necked bottle with a label with a picture of the "Höga-Kusten-Bron" (the bridge of "Höga Kusten").
A: Gloden pour with a really large airy head. That takes it's time to dissipate. Lot of lacings.
S: Malt and citric notes, but not a strong smell. A metallic off-smell...
T: Sweet malt, bready/doughy. Citric notes, mostly oranges.
M: Creamy medium body with medium carbonation. Aftertaste is rather short and both sweet and faint bitter.
D: Not a beer I'll buy again. Not bad, but not the opposite either.

The beer is copper toned, an off-white head that stays and leaves some lacing.
The smell is rather short, a malty sweetness, a hint of dried orange.
Mainly sweet, some orange, and a rather short bitterness at the end.
Medium carbonation, rather pleasant mouthfeel.
Nothing really stands out, but nothing is really bad. Goes probably well with the traditional Swedish cuisine.

First off, I didn't approach this review thinking at all of altbier. I think this might have helped me to enjoy it more.
Poured a clear copper-orange with lots of visible carbonation. The white head was very small--around a half cm--but it barely eroded and left a nice lacing.
Smelled of red licorice, orange, bubblegum. Sweeter than I like my beer to smell most of the time.
The mouthfeel is crisp, but watered-down, with medium carbonation.
In the end, the beer tasted much less sweeter than the aroma let on, but reflecting the smell. There was a bitter finish, and a slight touch of white vinegar and apple juice. In a roundabout way, this beer reminds me of an Anchor Liberty Ale clone that misses the mark.
The gaudy label with bright colours made me keep lowered expectations, but I think it's an okay, but average, beer. I wouldn't turn it down, but I won't go out of my way to get it either.

A friend from our local homebrewers' club gave me a bottle of this beer. He travels extensively in his job, so the beer came fresh in his luggage.
If this is meant to be an Alt-style beer, it is missing the mark. It pours a clear golden amber, almost a light orange color. What little head it had dissipated quickly. The first taste was decidedly malty sweet, but later samplings revealed a dry finish behind the initial sweetness. Very little hop presence; certainly not the hop character of an Alt.
This Sweedish offering is okay, but I wouldn't go out of my way to find more and it definitely fails to achieve the Alt-style it seems to want to emulate.
