There are very few negative things to say about this place. It wants for ambiance but that's not the point. It's here to sell beer and does so better than most stores in the Northeast. Think big dusty warehouse you enter through a garage door. On your left are cashiers behind glass, on the right are coolers with singles -- foreign, domestic (macro and micro), 40s and soda. Further in there are large sections for Belgian singles, 750s and American micros. In the back are palettes of cases to pick through. Not all items are priced (a pet peeve of mine) but answers are never far away.
Service is friendly and informed. Anything I ask for the main beer guy either has or has an explanation as to why it's not there. When La Terrible first showed up he recommended it to me but only if I had a cellar to age it. Impressive!
Best of all, they have Southampton (last time I was in I saw Abbot 12, Tripel and Saison). What else can you ask for?

I swore I'd only check to see if they had an Orval glass.... But then I saw the bottle of St. Bernardus Abt 12 and it seemed to call to me.
The place is uninviting and dusty. A giant warehouse. But (a giant one here) they had really cheap/moderate prices. I recall seven dollars for Unibroue bottles and four for Stone. Alas, no Ruination, but mostly all the other Stone's. Plus, both Rochefort 8 and 10 as well as Westvleteren 10 and 12. I was tempted to pick up another bottle, but instead went for the DogFish Head IPA's and a Hennepin for tonight.
They sell glasses, and had a couple of giftpacks. I was kicking myself for not having waited to buy a Duvel giftpack here. So it goes. I'll definitely be back, though. Dust and boxes don't scare me, and the two salespeople were knowledgeable about their stock and quite friendly. Oh, tambien hablan español...

Me & Phil dropped in there one night before heading to the Seaport for Laura's birthday. LAAAUUURRRAAA!!!
You see, we had a bet regarding certain American League East teams, and well let's just say, mine went to the World Series. The bet was for a case of beer, this is where we went to settle up. Dusty, scary, questionably climate controlled (to be assessed this Winter to be sure), warehouseish, I don't know.
Upon entry, sodas, teas, juices and other things to drink from near and far that I don't know how to categorize. A little deeper in on the left, singles, singles, singles (this is where I found my Heavyweight Old Salty 2000's, '96 Stille Nacht, and '97 Carnegie Porter). As you move in further, towards the back and on the right, they've got shelves of regional micros with a good emphasis on Northeastern and New England beers, and a lot of nice big bottles (scored me a Stone 7th Anniversary), Southampton, etc. plus Belgians, Hannsens, Fantome, Caracole, Westie 12's, etc.
Phil bought 2 different years' Unibroue Quelque Chose, and tell me where else you think you're going to score a case of the Brooklyn Monster 2000? (Don't let anybody say Phil doesn't make good on a bet).

It's true this is not a fancy place, it is somewhat dirty, and it is somewhat disorganized, but they have an amazing selection of beers, and the prices are absurdly cheap. I agree it is probably a good idea to stick to strong, resilient beers when you buy here, but that tends to be what I usually buy here anyway, so I have no problem with that, and they do have a great selection of them here. Actually, for what it's worth, I have bought quite a bit of beer here, and have not experienced any bad bottles.
