On tap at Vintage's downtown outpost.
Served in an extremely heavy goblet with a minimal amount of light tan head. No lacing. Clear, dark brown. Aroma is all malt. Raisin, toffee and lots of dark caramel malt. Taste is more of the same. Very sweet dark caramel malt. A hint of chocolate. Molasses, raisin and bit of a woodsy-earthiness on the back end. Maybe a bit of yeast-derived spice, but not much. Heavier bodied. Lower carbonation. A bit harsh and abrasive in the mouth quite uncommon among Belgian-made dubbels. A decent beer if not an overly impressive one.

Tried this one at the brewery.
Poured a darker brownish amber color with a bit of head and good lacing on it.
Aroma was caramel malt with some pepper or spice coming through with a bit of alcohol as well.
Taste was much like the smell. A bit of spice to this one along with some alcohol on the finish.
Medium bodied beer. I had this one during dinner so I didn't drink it too fast.
Overall a good beer. I enjoyed it.

This ale comes slightly hazy deep amber color with an off-white clingy head. The aroma is rather malty, sweet, raisiny, toffee with some spicy, peppery phenols and just a hint of booze. The flavor is much like the aroma, sweet, malty, and peppery. The hop bitterness and yeast spicyness balance the sweet malt nicely. The beer finishes with a pleasant lingering caramel-raisin malt flavor. The alcohol, while certainly there in the background is not overwhelming and accents the beer nicely. The body is medium-full and carbonation moderate. Overall this is a very well made beer and once of their best offerings IMO.
