22 oz bottle poured into an imperial pint.
6.5% ABV
A - Steady carbonation streams through the brilliantly clear, gorgeous copper-ish amber beer feeding it's tall off-white head. Thick and chunky lace is left on the glass following the head's departure to a lumpy pile of suds.
S - American hops make their presence known rather quickly, with earthy pine notes and a conglomerate of citrus with lemon zest leading the charge. Better Off Red isn't all hops though, the malt profile shines through with dry toast crust and some bready sweetness for a round aroma!
T - Better Off Red features harmonious balance between it's hoppy profile and malt backing merging the earthy citrus character wonderfully with the dry, earth-like tones of the backing malt.
M - Smooth and round, this nicely carbonated beer drinks incredibly well and finishes with a dry, lingering hop bitterness that balances the underlying malt sweetness perfectly.
O - Great malt complexity, smooth body, and hoppy overtones? What's not to love from this American red? Better Off Red is easy drinking and flavorful all the way around!

on tap poured into a shaker pint.
A - Dark Amber with a very nice ruby hue when held up to the light. Thin head, and decent lacing.
S - Nice aroma of malts and fruit. You could tell this was hopped more than a standard Amber, but with more fruity hops than bitter hops.
T - I really enjoy hoppy Amber ales, and this one was tasty. It reminded me of Green Flash Hop Head Red IPA. It was not as intense with the bitter, but it had a very nice tropical fruit hop presence to help balance the sweet malts. I'm not sure if Amarillo hops were used, but it seemed like it.
M - Decent for the style, with a medium body that was not quite smooth. Carbonation was a tad low.
O - I think this is a great house Amber that is not overly hopped. I will get this anytime I stop. If you are a fan of Green Flash Hop Head Red or like hoppy Ambers, you will enjoy it.
