I was able to stop by for an extended visit during my stay in Charleston.

This is not that big of an establishment. There is a small bar to your right as you enter. Tables against the wall and more seating in the back room. There are two unisex bathrooms between the two main spaces.

I only saw one TV, so go for the beer and not the ability to watch the games. Rock tunes in the background were turned low enough to not inhibit conversation.

The table service is friendly, and knowledgeable but a touch slow. I was ok with it as we were not in any big hurry.

The menu is not huge, but what we had was a solid yeoman like effort. I think most folks will find something they will like.

Beer is the star here. They have a solid selection of taps that are broke out by color and or style. I like that you can get 10 oz, 16 oz or full liters. The 10 ozs are a great way to really sample a lot of beers. They also offer flights which is always nice to see.

I will have no hesitation going back next time I'm in this gem of a city.

Beautiful little beer bar decor is nice lots of wood flickering lights in the fireplace bring back childhood.

Nice beer selection not hundreds of taps but good quality brews all around. Nice selection of local brews plus more notable beer from around the country.

Service was good warned me about what I was ordering which might be valuable to someone not familiar with good beer.

Selection again not huge but good quality all around.

Only had the onion strings they were good.

Prices seem reasonable better then many places at home. Would highly recomend this place if your vacationing in Charleston.

Cool little bar that has the best selection of craft on tap in Charleston.

Bar is near the student section of town and has a fairly laid back vibe for hoighty-toighty Charleston and reasonable prices with most pints at about $5.50. Lots of wood and vintage stuff in the decor, perhaps a tad fancy looking for my tastes but I think fanciness is just a reality of the city. Good selection of taps that go across an excellent samplings of styles and quite a few countries. Not a 100 tap megabar, but I don't really like those anyways.

Bar tender was friendly and knowledgeable. I went in a bit after lunchtime so it was empty, but I am told that it gets busy in the evenings.

One of the neatest things about this bar is that they offer 10oz, pints, and liter servings of all their beer. I do not know why every bar does not do this.

If I was in Charleston and looking for a good beer, this is the place I would go.

Went there on a business trip. Hands down the best craft beer bar in the city. Reasonable prices, laid back atmosphere, and good bartenders. Decent selection of local, and national craft beers. I was only in the city for 3 days, but went there 2 out of 3 days. I Recommend this bar. Bells 2 Hearted Ale, Ranger Ipa,, Stone Russian Imperial Stout, Coastal + Holy. I didn't eat there, so no imput on the food. Nice bar, and a lot of sofas , chairs if you come with a group. I like that it is in a more laid back section of Charleston

I without reservation recommend Closed for Business. the ambiance has the charm of a living room in a cabin retreat: sofas and worn stuffed chairs strategically placed in proximity to a fire place. For those seeking refuge near the taps, they have ample stools at the bar. They have a relatively extensive draught selection which is geographically representative of national and international brews. They honor the local beer culture by carrying at least one style from Charleston/Mt. Pleasant breweries. In addition, they offer growlers of all tapped brews. I believe they welcome growlers purchased at other establishments.

Now anyone who knows me will attest that I am very low maintenance and demand very little. I was excited to play the host and bring a large group of colleagues to this bar. Many of them were beer geeks from the Chicago area.

Initially as we entered we were very impressed with the tap list. There were so many to try. Unfortunately I had to ask for 3 that I was told "we are out of that." After my first beer "COASTs Daves Brown Ale" (excellent!) I once again had to name 3 more off the menu until I found one that they actually had. Again it was local (Holy Citys Earthworm Rye, again awesome).

The food was outstanding. Based upon a recommendation on here I asked for the Pountine. This is now hands down my new favorite bar food. Everyone at the table was impressed with their selections. Even though it was busy the waitress still was able to give us the attention we needed.

I brought people there to show off our local beer scene and to let them drink local. It was disconcerting that many of the local beers were "out."

This is my favorite Beer Bar in Charleston. They have excellent food and one of the better Beer lists in town. They offer different size drafts so you can sample more beers here that your regular bar, the downside is that they are a little on the pricey side. They carry plenty of the local and regional offerings as well as imports all served in proper glassware. Ther is cask offering as well. The atmosphere is a reflection of the city as you will see plenty of tourists mixing it up with the college crowd. I feel this place is worthy of a stop if you are visiting Charleston.

A smallish bar with a cozy feel and a decidedly hipster beer-bar crowd. The decor is creatively eclectic with lots of beer signs and interesting light fixtures. The beer selection is very good, bordering on excellent. They had a good mix of local brews, highly regarded craft beers, and a handful of rarities. Not on the level of a place like the Brickstore or Toronado, but quite good.

Service was good, considering the crowd and the servers seemed to be reasonably well versed on the beers that were on tap. Beers were served from clean lines and into proper glassware where applicable.

The food was the real standout, the menu is small but well thought out. Good sandwiches and some beer cuisine such as mussels cooked in beer. Poutine at a beer bar in South Carolina? That alone makes this a must visit for any BA in Charleston.

CFB is great. The atmosphere is very nice, it's a little dark and gets loud when it's busy, but that's expected for a popular bar. The selection is terrific, especially for a bar down here, and everything seemed fresh. I ended up getting a burger for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. They didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked, and whenever that happens, places usually burn it to a crisp. But to my surprise, it was about medium-well and nice and juicy. I had a great experience with the service, as well. My buddy and I got there at about 7:30 on a Friday night, a few hours before it got busy, and sat at the bar. The bartenders were always around to bring us another round. Even after it got busy, they were still always around and took great care of us. They were also pretty knowledgeable about their beers as well.

I've been to this place a couple of times now, and I love it. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back many times.

Stopped in for dinner with a couple of colleagues while in Charleston for work.
It was a bit crowded on a Sunday evening, but there was one booth that had just opened up. Kind of a hipster bar atmosphere. Not bad. Low lighting and a general red-ish vibe. Various deer heads.

First things first: beer selection is excellent. Quite a variety on tap, including a number of local/regional beers. All that I tried tasted fresh.

Food was decent, but not a high point. My vegetarian co-worker was happy with the veggie shells and cheese.

Service was somewhat slow, but accurate. Pretty average.

Overall this place is definitely worth a stop for the selection alone. I'd suggest eating elsewhere, and then coming here for the beer. I will definitely come back if I'm in Charleston again.
