Went to the American Craft opening night on Feb 24.
Initial impression: Awesome.
The new decor smacks of something a bit old-school with warm colors, Victorian-esque wallpaper, dark woods, and chandeliers that dimly light the place. Music was a mix of jazz and low key, low volume tunes which really helped to set the overall mood; relaxed and comfortable. Staff were all uniforms; jeans and short-sleaved button-down collared shirts; nice touch and fits the old-school theme. And I enjoyed the fact that they turned off many of the big TVs too; something I hope they do on a regular basis. No brewerania too.
Ponied-up to the front bar (which was totally rebuilt in a way that opens the entire front up) and ordered a Green Flash West Coast IPA to get the palate going, followed by Mischief from The Bruery paired w/ Fried Cornmeal Crusted Local Oysters on a tarragon-caper remoulade ($11). Spot on. Absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection; crispy outside, juicy inside.
Had an Allagash Anniversary aged in oak for 4 years. Kick-ass.
Gazed at the big chalkboard (there's chalkboards throughout the place) which listed all of the available beers and prices, plus the daily blue plate specials. Noticed the beer prices might have gone up a bit across the board (?), but opening a new place isn't cheap. High-quality pours and a lot of beers that aren't readily available on-tap = not bothered paying some extra coins here or there.
Next up, we moved to a high-top in the bar area. Ordered a Lagunitas Czech Pils w/ medium-rare custom burger that sat on a sturdy challah roll; never broke apart. Base burger was $11, then I added baby spinach ($2), cheddar ($1), fried egg ($2), and thick-cut applewood smoked bacon ($3). Burger could have been a bit more pink, but overall an absurdly great eat. Fries were well-down, crispy, with a sweet moist center.
Someone ordered a $40 burger while we were there. Must try that sometime!
Finished w/ an Allagash Black aged in bourbon barrels, and then The Lost Abbey Angel Share. Tons of great beers on-tap.
Service was very attentive at the bar and initially at the high-top, but over the course of our stay at the high-top we did notice things got a bit slow, but not too bad and our server did an excellent job otherwise.
A welcome addition to the beer & food scene, and I'll definitely be going back to checkout more of the beer & food.

I've been to AmCraft a LOT in the past few years since it's been open. For about two thirds of my trips here this was my original destination and the other third has usually been times when I've tried to go to Publick House only to be turned off by the hour to hour and a half wait for a table.
+The beer menu is extensive but not overwhelming. As the name suggests, you will find pretty much only American "craft" beers. The AmCraft selection is generally well balanced between IPAs, pale ales, brown ales, and imperial stouts, etc.
+The place is huge and although the waiting can be up to 45 minutes at peak times, you can usually get seated very quickly.
+This is the place to watch sports in Washington Square. There are numerous HD TVs at both the upper bar and lower bar and almost every seat has a good view of at least one of them.

With rumors that American Craft may be switching hands I decided to head over for dinner. My parents were in town and joined me as well.
We were told there was going to be a 30 minute wait, but they got us a high top near the bar in less than 10 minutes. We were waited on by the bar tenders, who were very attentive and checked on us frequently. There are plenty of reports about shaky service, but luckily this was not the case with us.
Beer wise the tap list was smaller than I expected, but very well selected. It was great to see a strong mix of local beers with national favorites and a smattering of Belgians (Publick House influence). I had a Blatant IPA (one of the newer MA breweries to open up), a Lagunitas Fusion VII (a hard series to come by for me), and a Wachusett Larry. All the beers were reasonably priced around $6 and change.
For food we had two appetizers, the white bean dip which was nice and the fried pumpkin and sage raviolis which were outstanding. For entrees we had burgers and sandwiches all of which was good. Burger sizes were massive and I ended up taking half home. Fries were good too.
All in all this was a good experience and a place I'd go back to. Here's hoping the rumors aren't true.

After leaving Publick House, we made the short trip to American Craft.
A very large space to work with with plenty of seating (both inside and out). The tap list was also pretty extensive, though perhaps not quite as eclectic as Publick House (but significantly less expensive).
The food was quite good, especially the chive fries. You get a very generous portion as well. I ordered the turkey-avocado sandwich.
The service was prompt, friendly, and attentive; all of which are appreciated.
Definitely a place worth visiting.

It was once said by iron chef Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, "Tell me what you eat and I'll tell you what you are." the server at American Craft, Matt, is the beer equivalent to this and really knows his ales. Anyone visiting the boston area must visit American craft over the public house. The selection is awesome, I was experiencing new tastes all night long. The prices are right on. The ambiance is very chill with suttle classic rock in the background. Will return to here and only here whenever I return to Boston.

Spent a long weekend in Boston in mid November and this is the only place that we made it to on 2 nights. Two large bars bookend the dining room with booths surrounding the larger rectangle bar. Nice selection of beers and very friendly service.
Good food with plenty to choose from. Tried some beers from Pretty Things and enjoyed a huge order of frites with cheese and truffle oil. Service was great unless the beer I ordered was poured from the other bar in which case I had to wait a bit longer than expected.
Can't wait to get back to Boston.

great beer bar, easily one of the best in the boston area - i'd put it right up there with the likes of publick house, sunset, deep ellum, etc. more spacious than publick house, so seating wasn't an issue even on a saturday night (party of 4). loved the selection; where as publick house leans more heavily into belgians, american craft is, well, just that. had a mephistopheles' stout (avery), and from DFH a world wide stout and a 2006 raison d'extra. my one complaint was 2 beers i ordered from the menu being tapped or out of stock (angel's share and then later with sculpin). even so, the beer menu is extensive enough that there was plenty more from which to choose.
didn't eat myself, but for what it's worth others in my party did and were impressed. our server was fine, was neither wow-ed nor displeased. although when the angel's share turned out to be tapped he offered alternative recommendations based on ABV, which i wasn't too impressed about (but forgivable). prices were what i expected, which is to say typical for the area.

I visited American Craft with some friends after the Belgian Beer Fest. We arrived early enough in the afternoon to get a table in the bar.
The restaurant is larger than I expected, has lots of dark wood, is clean and comfortable. There's several large TV's in the bar showing a variety of sporting events. The TV volume was down and there was no music, which made conversations with friends easy.
Each table has a beverage menu with a long list of beers on tap on the cover. All of the beers are from American brewers (hence American Craft) and included several hard to find brews. The prices were reasonable for what was offered. There's also many beers available in bottles ranging from new arrivals to cellared conditioned ales. They also offer a variety of wines and spirits.
The service was very good. Our waiter was friendly and attentive to our needs. My friends and I got some burgers and sandwiches, which were descent but nothing out of the ordinary. The full dinner menu had some interesting dishes on it and were priced in the $20 - $30 range.
Overall, this is a bar you could easily spend several hours at drinking many excellent craft beers. It's conveniently located near the green line with plenty of parking across the street.

I stopped here with several other people on a not so busy Thursday evening. We were promptly seated. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The palce is modern looking and very roomy. The selection of beer choices was excellent. Lots to choose from on tap and decent bottle selection including some nice vintage items. The food was excellent. The menu was well thought out and the food we received was prepared perfectly. The place is a bit pricey but what isn't in Brookline? I would defintely go back.

Been to this place several times since it re-opened, ranging from its first week to a couple more recent visits.
Have always been seated promptly and only had to wait once when I was with a large group. Even then, it was a short wait. That's always a plus, especially on nights when The Publick House is packed.
Service has been somewhat hit-or-miss. Some servers have been a little spacey and unattentive considering the lack of tables. Others have been very friendly and helpful. I have to say average service overall.
The atmosphere is nice and inviting, but nothing spectacular.
It seems like great care was put into the menu, and I've enjoyed everything that I've ordered. However, the selection feels somewhat limited and a little pricey for what it is. At first I was especially put off by the price of burgers ($11) and toppings ($1-$3 iirc), but it seems like they've lowered their prices slightly. I don't know if this is true for the rest of the menu, but those prices seem reasonable to me at the moment.
The beer list... well it's not called "American Craft" for nothing. The selection was impressive, but again a little pricey for my tastes. You'd be hard-pressed to not find something that would interest you, however their selection of more moderately-priced beers is a bit limited.
Would I go back again? Sure, but price and selection are a little disappointing, and I have several friends who aren't so keen on this place for exactly those reasons (and I see their point). If you're into the craft beer/food scene, then this place is worth the trip, but be prepared to spend a little extra.
