Had on tap at Peppercorns.

Light fizzy head gases at a med pace over murky dark mud brown color with a hint of a reddish purple hue.

Nose has nice malts, lots of caramel, dark wheats, hints of fruits like candied fig, raisin, and other dried fruits, light creamy malts, but of booze tickles the nose. Yeast add a touch of spice and esters.

Taste starts with creamy darker malts, plenty of caramel, crystal malts, slight hint if a porter like roast, some dark wheat flavors, light grainy, light boozy esters balance the semi sweet start, some fruit trickles in with light dried trail mix fruit and a hint of esters bringing a touch of salt. The yeast adds light spices and a small bubble feel as well as a light Belgian fruity saison like quality, a just a faint hint of an herbal hop bitterness, and slight hint of phenolic yeast taste. Finishes drier but sticky, lingering caramel and malts, toffee, light salty ester and yeast spice flavor lingering.

Mouth is med to a bit heavier bodied, decent carb with little bubbles, and light booze.

Overall a complex and interesting beer. A lot going on between thee malts, yeast, booze, fruits, esters, and wheats. Slow sipper but def worth a try.

On-tap at Russell House Tavern, served in a pint glass.

Pour is a murky, turbid brown bordering on dark maroon. By the time my pint was brought to my table, the head had all but disappeared. Just a wisp of light brown foam with tiny bubbles remained.

Tons of apples in the nose. It's a very natural, organic sort of smell - sweet and tart, like the fruit itself rather than gum or pie filling. Very rich, dark malt backbone in the aroma as well that imparts a little more sweetness.

Plums are very present in the taste - oddly enough, the initial flavor profile is similar to a Quad or BSDA, with abundant dark fruits. Some coffee underneath, but the malts really shine here. A light acidic touch in the finish that also reminds me of apples.

Mouthfeel is thick, rich and lush. A chewy beer, the carbonation is spot on.

An awesome way to start the fall, and a great American weizenbock. I will be seeking this out over the next few weeks.

Kudos Jared on beating me to adding this. Had on tap Thursday with luncch. Poured into a fluted tulip as they call it at Peppercorns.

A - Nice cloudy/hazy muddy brown pour with a small quarter inch head that fades to leave a slight halo.

S - Typical weizenbock aromas. Light dark wheat and dark fruits (figs, dates, raisins, etc.) with some malts and soft chocolate.

T - More of the same. Good dark fruit esters as well as light grain and chocolate. The alcohol is unfortunately quite noticeable.

M - Nice with a surprising amount of carbonation. The abv is still noticeable in ghat it is slight heavy and a little too sweet.

O - Overall I thought this beer was an okay offering of a weizenbock. Appearance could be better, nose a bit more prominent but all in all not a bad offering from Wormtown.
