I picked this growler up the other day down in Weymouth at Granite Liquors. Beer was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: The beer poured a one finger head. It is a golden yellow with signs of carbonation running up the glass. The head has reduced and left some lacing on the glass.

Smell: light hop profile, sweet malts that give off a honey and bread aroma. Smells nice.

Taste: More bread and sweet malts. Not really noticing too much hops.

Mouthfeel: high carbonation, chewy, and medium bodied.

Overall: This is not too shabby of a pale ale from Worcester. Not sure how old the growler is, but wouldn't mind trying this out on draft sometime. The growler could be old and have lost some characteristics to it.

Clear light gold color. Moderate head quickly fades.

Minimal malt presence, no hop profile detected.

Average "beer" taste. No single flavor is outstanding.

Adequate carbonation from growler. Nice smooth mouthfeel.

Not the best representative the brewery has to offer. Could easily have more than one in a sitting, but would prefer a little more malt backbone and some detectable hoppiness.

Picked up a growler of this at Julio's. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Crystal clear golden straw colour with a sudsy one finger head that fades to leave minimal halo/wisping and no side lacing.

S - Very, very light hop aroma. Would like it to be a bit more floral. Some light bready malt too.

T - Nice and light with a very mild hoppy finish and slight bread notes. Just good though, nothing special.

M - Nice carbonation for a growler. I liked ths mouthfeel better than on tap. Good dry/crisp finish.

O - While this might not be, in my opinion, the best offering of Wormtown it is one of the most popular and sessionable. Definately a mass appeal brew. Really, really wish they would bottle some of their more limited brews (namely their Sweet Tats stout or their Beer Goggles Barleywine).

D - The mouthfeel really helps this one along. That nice light taste and crisp mouthfeel makes this a nice session beer.

If you like bright, clean, bubbly pale ales, this is for you. If you like pale ales that have aroma and taste, this is not for you. The defining flavor, such as it is, is old corn, with a touch of grass in the aroma. Otherwise, this is a Kingfisher: all fizz and water. You can do much better.

A - A gorgeous glistening golden yellow color. Straw. Pretty large head that retains and laces very very nicely. Even lacing all across the glass.

S - Yeasty, very yeasty. Fresh grass. Smells very "beery" overall.

T - Mmmm. Nice and light. Grassy taste with yeast and some lemon rind perhaps. Very earthy and "dirty" tasting on the swallow with a moderate hoppy kick that's real pleasant. This is pretty delicious.

M - Quite light but not in a watery way. Well-carbonated but not overly so at all. Crisp as hell and perfect for springtime.

D - This is the best-crafted beer I've had from Wormtown and the only one that has the right mouthfeel. This is a really nice, well-crafted beer that I could see any other good microbrewery across the country releasing. Victory or Lagunitas could release this and it would still meet expectations. Very nicely done here, Wormtown. So drinkable. I'm impressed.

This one caught me off guard, as it tastes to me more of an IPA than most pales. A pleasant surprise as I love most IPAs. A clean burst of hops, not too heavy or light taste wise. Has a light yellow-amber hue, which at first glance only seems thick. For myself, this is a very drinkable brew.

Tap at peppercorns

Light creamy head fades med pace with light lacing, crystal clear golden pale yellow color.

Nose of light grassy hops, fresh light hops but very light, golden malts, fairly light, touch of spicy hop.

Taste is light, a bit off bitterness wroth some mild grassy hops and but spicy fresh hops, light golden pale malts, refreshing and drinkable. Finish brings a bit more spicy and floral hops and bitterness, semi dry, light hop spicy sting.

Mouth is a bit lighter but decent body and carb

Drink is great, light bitterness, light booze, drier finish, crisp and sessionable

Found this on tap ($7) at the DCU Center in Worcester during a Sharks hockey game. Served in a plastic cup of course. Bright yellow color, with a very clean looking body. Nice amount of carbonation and some lacing. Smell was citrusy. Nice hop flavor profile. Just enough hop presence to be noticeable, but not enough to overpower. Mouthfeel was crisp yet smooth. Drank a few of these during the game, because it was a very easy drinking beer. A nice find in that generic bar in the upper deck behind the goal. Though I will give them props for having "Now Serving Wormtown Brewery" signs hanging all around.

First time here and perhaps I just got a bad batch. The beer followed the trend of the other beers I had (maple brown and IPA) with some other issues:

Appearance: Much hazier than necessary, a simply extension in the bright tank at a lower temp would have resolved this.

Aroma: Here was the major issue: Major DMS. It was cutting right through the mild hop aroma so much so that it was difficult to over look.

Flavor: Decent, nothing to brag about. Pretty light on the hop punch, but a little bit there with some mild malt to back it up.

Mouthfeel: Medium to light, works fine for the style.

Drinakbility: I was expecting more from this one. The IPA was nice and hoppy (although still a bit cloudy) and pleasant and the brown as well a bit different than its description, but still nice. This beer could work, but needs to have the DMS issue that I experienced cleaned up which may push the hop aroma and flavor a bit more. Eitherway, a decent place to get some good food and fresh beer.

Very light orange, decent white head. Doesn't stick around very well and leaves a bit of lacing. Smell is weak but pale malt, light fruit and hops and are detectable. Taste is decent, light citrus and good hop presence. Hints of grass and bread. Has a bit of a weird soapy off-taste but seems to go away after a while. Gets the job done as a pale ale, it's light, crisp and refreshing. I did feel a bit strange paying $5 for one seeing as I could see the brewing tanks from my table though...

This beer is exactly what i hopped and thought it would be. It was very clear with a good head. I thought it had a nice but mild aroma. Very smoothe tasting with a light hop character. I thought for one of the first releases it was perfect because it was a great easy drinking beer with nothing aggresive so most people will like it. I think Ben has done a wonderul job and i am looking forward to a summer of drinking lots of Wormtown beer.

Served on tap at Peppercorns Bar and Grill this is one of the first offerings from Wormtown Brewery in Worcester, MA. Poured a pale golden color with a small white head, less than I would expect for this style beer. Aroma was mildly hoppy, unmistakably American, with some bready undertones. This was a very easy beer to drink, well balanced and not excessively bitter at 30 IBUs. Very crisp with a dry finish and a slight soapy aftertaste on my tongue which seemed to diminish as the beer warmed. Overall this is a very good example of this style, I may have appreciated a slightly more floral hop aroma on the nose but this is still something I would order again.

The second beer brewed at Wormtown.. the first batch of this particular style.

Appearance: Light, golden, with the expected haze of a young, unfiltered beer.

Smell: Some American hop aroma mixed with bread, and a touch of yeast. I'd love a bit more hop aroma (or perhaps less of the yeastiness).

Taste: Light and balanced. Gentle, bready malts with a bit of American hop crispness. The slight yeastiness is a factor as well, again, largely owing to the batch's relative youth.

Mouthfeel: Very dry and crisp, the way I tend to like my APA. I sometimes find the crystal malt character in other pales to be distracting.

Drinkability: At 4.5%, certainly sessionable. I had three while visiting Peppercorn's for the Wormtown release party.

The first few batches of beer from a new brewery are always going to be a bit experimental, and I don't doubt that the recipes and processes will see some tweaking in subsequent batches. I generally prefer my APA to have a more pronounced hop character, but this is still within the parameters of the style. I would be interested to see how this stands up with a bit more age, to allow some of the yeast-driven character to subside a touch.

Very slight haze, light golden color with a small persistant head.

Smells acidic and fruity with mild malt character and floral hops.

Taste is bitter bordering on harsh. Dry finish. American hop dominant. Citrus/grass/herb in that order. Malt for balance not for flavor.

Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with medium to small carbonation. Smarp and crisp.

Drinkability is medium high at 4.5 percent. Great with a pizza. Growler worthy.
