I was a little reluctant to buy this with the price tag, but was convinced by a friend who loved it. I hope it was worth it. Poured into my Ommegang tulip/chalice like glass. (already seems worth it, as soon as I popped it the Pats ran back a kick-off return touchdown).
A: Pours a light fizzy pasty white bubbly head hits 1 finger and fades at a med pace with spotted lacing, over crystal clear golden pilsner color.
N: is almost perfect for a Belgian IPA. It has great Belgian qualities as well as fresh aromatic floral hops. Hops come with light lemony citrus, little grassy floral, hints of tropical fruit, guava, passion fruit, and grapefruit. Nice Belgian malts, little fluffy and aromatic themselves, golden malts. All that with a great belgian yeast addition that comes through pretty well even through all the other aromas, light floral esters, slightest hint of spices, touch bready chewy as well.
T: starts with a bite, a big yeasty bite, with some yeast flavors, but then some yeast additions. The Belgian yeast takes the show at first, a bite of booze, little tingly and warming, some nice bright esters, a touch fusel on the booze though. Golden Belgian malts next, with a fluffy airy feel, bit of a chewy bready flavor due to both malts and yeast. A bitter bite cuts in the more I go, with a slightly spicy hop kick, some floral aromatic like hops, little grassy as the noble hops Saaz and Goldings really seems to take over. The noble hop flavor is nice, but despite dominating the hops it still seems almost drowned out by the rest of the flavors. The citra gets in there a bit but is even more drowned out, with a light tropical fruit, touch of passion fruit and guava, and just a bit of tangerine. Finish is dry and aromatic, fluffy, light bitterness with a long lingering hop character mostly noble but a little spicy, a bit of a light bitter rind and spices from the yeast, with a light ester and some more booze.
Mouth is med bodied, tons of carbonation maybe a little too much, little spicy and warming tingly hot booze.
Overall pretty good. The nose is almost perfect, the flavor is nice and would be a lot better if the booze didn't come through so hot with the fusel alcohol and warming tingly feel. The malts are nice in the background, hops are quite nice but give way for the Belgian yeast to do it's thing and add great flavors and especially aromas. Just wish it was a little less hot.

A- It pours a hazy golden straw with a thick white head. Head retention is excellent, and there are well formed rings of lace down the sides of the glass.
S- Lots of citrus, along with piney and grassy hops. It's very fruity, with lots of spicy and earthy yeast esters. It smells almost too good to drink, almost.
T- Faint hints of sweet malt dance on the palate with strong notes of citrus. There is a distinct belgian spiciness. The finish is dry, with strong notes of grapefruit. It's very light and refreshing, but it's very complex.
M- It's medium/light bodied, with lots of carbonation. The alcohol is hidden surprisingly well, but still offers up some warmth.
O- Glad I bought this one. It's simply incredible.
