Purchased from BevMo in Pacific Heights on a whim, never having had a Tahitian beer before. I don't have high hopes, but it's one to chalk up to experience.

Pours a very pale light golden colour, with a very fine, but rather thin head of white, that just forms a sherbet-like collar around the edge of the glass. No lacing, and a very thin body. Looks decent enough for what it is.

Grainy and slightly herbal nose, rather like a Euro green bottle lager; generally generic, but with a touch of vegetative crispness to give it a lift. Pretty average in the large scheme of things, but not too bad stylistically.

Taste is light, but mild, with a pleasant light grain sweetness on the back, that gives it a mealy, cereal finish. Light crisp entry almost fortells a harsh metallic or chemical bitterness on the back, but it doesn't arrive, meaning the beer stays smooth and drinkable throughout. Very refreshing and very soft.

Not nearly as bad as it might have been. It's a pretty clean, crisp and smooth, easy-drinking lager, with a lot more character than many in the genre. No, it's not going to knock your socks off, but it's a decently made pale lager that would make a good complement to a pacific island sunset.

Of course I never expected to ever try a beer from Tahiti, but here I am, drinking a beer from Tahiti. And I have no idea where it is. Beautiful bottle, amazingly smooth head in the glass. 5 out of 5 for appearance, definitely, with a picture of a hot girl next to a deserted island. Unfortunately I am drinking it somewhere without a hot girl or a deserted island.

No idea what to expect...aroma is hoppy and tropical for sure...I love. Malt seems a little sweet and reminds me of beers in France.

Mouth feel is kind of frothy, and a little simple. Not much bitterness happening.

So taste? Sweet, kind of tropical. Is this actually brewed in Tahiti? From the bottle, it seems like it's brewed in France. This explains the malt taste and the fact that it's sold in Auchan.

It tastes much better from the bottle, as opposed to in a pilsner glass. It has a crisp dryness at the end, and an almost Asahi like maltiness. And the malt has a slight Frenchness to it. But I like it. It's like a cross between Asahi and a French pilsner/blonde.

Overall it's an exciting and interesting beer, a little on the expensive side though ; )

Aroma is as expected malty and bready. Pours a golden straw with medium carb. The mouthfeel is about right for a Euro lager. Taste is crisp and light with a slight nuttiness, hops are present on the finish along with some sweet malt flavor. Overall a superb Euro lager with the coolest label graphics around.

Ok- required to drink it on a hot island vacation. I would have given this poorer ratings in the US, but on a beautiful hot day at the pool in Tahiti (great vacation), this lager holds up ok. Clear gold, basic/boring mouth feel with a little more tasty pep than a Budweiser or other American Lager, no head or really anything special - but quenches a thirst great without the buzz! I would never buy it or recommend it as a go-to beer, call it a ‘situational beer’. In the right situation it’s just fine...island life!
