Sgt. Prestons seems like an utterly typical college town joint. The place even has a board out front advertising the daily beer special: "PBR Tallboys." Dude! It's right across the street from Town Hall Brewery. In fact you can hit all four corners for a drink.

They have about two dozen taps. The problem is, they have no beer list or chalkboard, and the taps are at the bar back. A very glorious Victorian bar back, it should be noted. So if you want to stop here, check their website, they do have an informative beer list online.

The great feature is the spacious outdoor area on the street side, a little park, really with trees overhead. They have a lunch special pizza buffet and the usual wings 'n' things menu. Not too crowded or noisy early on a Friday evening. But make it Sunday all day for the $3 pints of Minnesota beers.
