Popped upon my 1st bottle of many with my Swedish friends. Epic tasting night and thanks for acquirng these for me.

A - Big white head with moderately good retention with trace amounts of lacing. Digging the apricot colored body it leaves behind.

S - Lemon citrus smell with a surprisingly amount of grassy funk in the nose that's surprising for such a young gueuze. I cannot wait to taste how this will develop when I age them and open years to come.

T - More sour than I expected for such a young blend and a little bit surprised about the slightly sharper acidity. Perhaps my palate's a little bit distorted as this was one of five sours opened that night but it's a little bit unruly. Lots of lemon notes with slight amounts of passionfruit in the taste. Surprised at the funky dank taste but in a good way.

M - Large amounts of carbonation, medium full body that gives it a good mouth feel.

O - Cannot wait to see how this will taste with age. Really looking forward to its maturity as this will only get better.

750ml corked and caged bottle poured into tulip 12/5/13

A hazed orange copper with enough clarity to see a tornado of bubbles, massive eggshell colored foam slowly falls to a finger deep and leaves lots of random lace, I'm impressed by the retention as there's still foam at the bottom of my glass

S funky as all hell, moldy cheese, damp basement, wet wood and some citrus peel, grassy with dried hay, somehow gym socks smell good, tart apple and more funk, leather boot and some faint electrical tape somehow works even though its slightly burnt. Every time you put I put my nose to it I get something different, complex to say the least

T citrus is focused towards lemon, and I'm not getting as much leather or funk but its still very funky, not quite the complexity of the nose but most of what I smells in the mouth in one form or another with a little dry cereal

M very carbonated, not overly sour and quite dry, stops short of being foamy but not by much, cheesy funk and citrus lingers for ages

O one of the more interesting beer I've had recently, lots going on and even though I'm still relatively new to the style I know what I like and I like this, a lot

something I could smell all day and I can see why its so sought after, I think I'll hang on to the few I have left for a long while and see what happens. Well worth seeking, good luck to ya

750ml black foiled, caged and corked bottle. Not quite sure if this is actually discontinued - this was bottled Feb 17, 2011, and is apparently good for 10 years hence. I'm assuming the label notes were written by the Belgian half here, but I'm not so sure.

This beer pours a quite hazy, dark apricot amber hue, with three or four fingers of climbing, puffy, thinly foamy off-white head, which leaves some rather thick fuzzy webbed lace around the glass as it very slowly abdicates.

It smells of sour, tart, almost meat-like citrus (mostly lemon) rind, pith, and flesh, a dry cheesiness that I now see as culpable for the meatiness, dried-out late summer hay, a subtle dose of funky yeast, and a touch of stoney minerality. The taste is quite bitter and tart, without any direction or reason at first, before a hollowed-out cherry, lemon, and raspberry 'fruitiness' emerges, to deliver us from reason, into a subtle melange of softly astringent wooden barrel notes, the sharpest of northern Italian cheese, a tame yeasty funk, and some mild earthy, straw-like hops.

The carbonation is frothy, and only slightly barbed, the body a somewhat surprising medium weight, and as smooth as the tiny effervescent bubbles will allow. It finishes still quite dry, the tartness of the emasculated fruit, yeast, and barrel woodiness not really entertaining any other nuances.

The best Cantillon-esque experience I've had since, well, my last iteration of (central) Brussels's finest sour ales. Tart, fruity, yeasty, and sure, ethereally malty, all under a tightly-reined umbrella of due balance, the niceties of which are better left to better investigators than I. Well worthy of the hefty price tag, to try something that may never again arise in nature.

A - Pretty, murky apricot, stark huge white head. Lots of bubby cling.

S - Tart, band aids, astringent.

T - All of the smell, plus nice malt center.

M - Medium body, huge carbonation, nice balance, nice creaminess.

D - I could have this one all night.

Thanks Ryan for sharing this major "want". Split between 4 people. Peachy hued, pours somewhat hazy with a very good effervescent head and good retention as well. Signature 3F aroma with a dominant peppery note (compared to Oude Gueuze and Golden Blend anyway). Very sour and very lactic with tons of warehouse funk. Bursting with carbonation... always fruity somewhat floral at times. Only thing I can say against it is that it lacks the drinkability/approachability of the Oude Gueuze.

Glad to have had it and thanks again!

750ml corked and caged bottle into a Cantillon tulip. Shared with schen9303.

Cork ejects with a loud, crisp pop. Beer pours a massive, as expected 3.5 finger foamy white cream head with great retention. Beer is a clear copper. Lacing is stringy and thick with good stick. Couldn't ask for more here.

Nose is citrus, lemon, hay and sharp cheesy tartness. Nice, crisp and aromatic.

Opens sharp citrussy tartness. Lemon peel, hay, sharp cheese and a funky tartness at the middle. Some cobwebs and more hay at the end with dashes of wet and rotting wood here and there. Finishes with a filmy lemon zest tart/bitterness. Same in the aftertaste. Definitely above average but the funkiness is a bit underwhelming here and its pretty simple overall.

Light bodied with ample carbonation. Prickly and lively in the mouth and goes down accented, bubbly and slightly oily. Messy finish with a long, lingering aftertaste. Real drinkable. Good for the style.

A very solid beer overall. Like a well aged Oude Gueuze. However, this is nothing to write home about though I'm more than happy to age a few bottles to see what happens with time.

Bottled February 17, 2011.

Bottle is a gusher. A bunch of foam comes jumping up right after opening. Lost a bit I am afraid to say. The beer is vary cloudy, coppery in colour. A very large and frothy white head on top, good retention.

Smell is funky. Yeast is there and contains notes of light fruit. Lemon and citrus are strong. Quite balanced in terms of funk and other flavours. A bit of cherry.

Taste is very good. Nice dose of funk, balanced with lemon, grass, cherry, apple. Quite sour and acidic. Dry. Like the nose, very well balanced. All flavours blended well together in a harmonious whole.

Medium bodied, very tart, dries the mouth quite significantly. Moderate to low carbonation. '

Overall, very good. Having tried the Lente last week, it is hard to avoid comparing the two. I certainly preferred the Lente, which was a bit more complex and exciting, but this is also a terrific gueuze. Like the Lente, it is very well balanced which seems to be a hallmark of the Drie Fonteinen gueuzes. Yum!

A-Pours a cloudy deep orange with a finger and a halfs worth of frothy off-white head.

S-Nose is sharp, musty citrus and aged cheese. It’s quite funky and has a good amount of mineral to it.

T-Flavor has slightly less funk up to it, it’s more sharp lemon rind, aged cheese, wet hay, and damp basement.

M-Mouthfeel is light, carbonation is spritzy, moderate acidity, and a moderate finish.

O-Another great blend from Armand. Despite having this side by side with ’02 OGV in the past and thinking they were pretty different, I am inclined to pick out a lot of similarities when having this on its own. Look forward to seeing how this continues to age.

Slightly hazy dark amber colour with a small white head. Fair head retention given the style.

Very funky. Earthy and slightly goaty. Nice bitter lemon aroma and some almost husky notes. Good.

Well hello there. Very fruity with a big citrus hit. There is a real bitter lemon note here along with some grapefruit. The bitterness is quite high and the tartness is crisp and really good. Medium funk.

Moderate body with moderately-high carbonation. Solid.

A really nice Gueuze. Well blended with a nice balance of tartness, funk and bitterness. Excellent.
