375mL bottle into a tulip
bottled on: 23 FEV. 2012
A: Pours a mildly hazy golden orange with 1.5 fingers width of slightly off white colored head, which dissipates down fairly quickly to a whispy center and bubbly outer ring. Some carbonation bubbles can be seen rising to the top of the glass, but they are generally masked by the haziness. Leaves no lacing.
S: Tart lemon, sour apple and white pepper are the first aromas noted. Accompanied by a fair degree of sweetness, reminiscent of peaches. There is a mineral-type aroma that I cant quite place. A swirl of the glass brings out the oak characters. Very nice.
T: Quite tart with sour apple and lemon, along with a good degree of sweetness. Sweet white grapes, reminiscent of sparkling grape juice, like the fake champagne I used to drink as a kid on NYE. I also get oak, rock salt, and belgium yeast banana on the back end.
M/D: Carbonation is low for the style. Medium bodied, wet finish as I salivate after each sip. Drinkability is good.
O: Overall, good but not great. Its not as sour as some other gueuze's I have had, it also didn't have the degree of flavor complexity that others do. I think the lack of carbonation hurt this one. That being said, I still really enjoyed it. I just wouldnt rush to purchase it again. One more thing, I really didnt get any of the funk/barnyard characters that others have said were so prominent in this beer. I am not docking it points on that though, as I tend to prefer the sour notes to the funk ones, just thought Id mention it though.

05 vintage.
Pours a nice fizzy head, hazy apricot colored.
Nose nice blended sour juice, light funk aged tart fruit like, little grassy light lemony tartness, nice funk and just a touch of oak.
Taste same, tart fruit funk, dry bready malt, little cork, great balance of sour fruit, with a bit of a sharp acidity and some lemony tartness, light wet hey and a grassy funk, very light vinous quality and a good juicy sourness with faint oak. Finish is semi flemmy and acidic, nice lingering sour fruit and light lemony flavor.
Mouth is med to light bodied, decent carb for how old it is.
Overall fantastic beer, on par with or maybe even setting the standard for an oude gueuze. Great structure, acid levels, sour flavors, long finish, just tasty.

Lovely Cali afternoon, 90 and breezy. Needed a beer for the occasion. thinking this one may just fit the bill...
Pours a picture perfect deep gold. swirling it around with nice lacing and carbonation. i can smell it instantly. Imagining my backyard is fill with lemon zest fields and straw haystacks.
Taste is nicely acidic. mellow and understated. peppery and slight spice. nice orange(y) flavor going on. so well balanced. The 'drinkabilty' factor is HIGH on this brew. i could have a few of these and not have the life sucked out of my mouth like those delicious RR sours.
Im diggin it. if im being picky, id love this brew to throw a 'juicy' bag around its neck, and take strut around if you know whata mean

375mL into a tulip. Pours a slightly hazy golden color w/ a 1-finger white head, vigorous carbonation.
Aroma is tart, very dry and oaky, funky, a little vinous.
Taste is lemony, grassy, sour, oaky, mildly acidic.
Mouthfeel is clean, refreshing, w/ a crisp dry finish. Carbonation tickles the palate.
Overall a solid, straightforward rendition of the style.

2012 bottle
Appearance- Golden orange, pretty clear with a thin cap of white head
Smell- Lots of funk, lemony acidity is there, along with an earthiness. Definitely dominated by the funk
Taste- Lemon and green apple skin sourness, a bit of a grassy herbalness, which develops into a musty, dry funk. Aftertaste brings more of the green apple flavors
Mouthfeel- Light mouthfeel with lots of prickly carbonation. Finishes dry and crisp, very nice
Overall- Top notch stuff, nothing really else to say. Consistently good and easy enough to get a hold of, I always keep a few bottles around!
