Pours an opaque deep brown with a frothy quarter inch khaki head that dissipates somewhat quickly into a thin film on the surface.
Vinous, fruity esters, raisins, and candi sugar sweetness begin the aroma. Belgian yeast and lightly toasted malt round out the profile.
A bit on the sweet side, the wine-like tartness provides respite mid palate. The flavor serious out at the finish. Notes of plum, raisins, and figs add complexity. Bubblegum surfaces as it warms.
Body is syrupy, with fairly sparkly carbonation and significant alcohol warmth that is deeply felt.
Good ester character. Fairly hot. The wine notes are intriguing. Wish I had a bottle to age a while.

Its with a strong hearty helping of fruit and spice that this massive Belgian PerDark Ale prevails with malty-sweet undertones and highlights of wine and peppercorn.
Opening with a deep brown, ruby tinged body, the beer pours a frothy an viscous look as the carbonation slowly releases from the ale underneath for a slow and patient head of sandy foam to cap the beer throughout the session.
Incredibly deep aromas of fruit, spice, and malt align the nose with cherries, raisins, dates and figs just as the counter of clove and fresh cracked peppercorn act in balance. All that fruit and spice leans upon a malty backdrop of spiced rum., coffee cake, and fruitcake-type breadiness. Periphery notes of red wine, sherry, and berries finish the taste with a semi-short taste and texture.
Full bodied for sure, the ale is sweet and sultry- its bready-sweet start is balanced by acidic wine-like dryness and spiciness. Waivering just a touch, the finish brings about semi-dryness., spicy rum-like warmth and fleeting sweetness.
Its a decadence Belgian-style ale that is as absurd and aggressive as any stout should proclaim.
