750ml brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Pours with a slight crackle of carbonation, good clarity with minimal lacing on top. Funky tart nose with hints of blackberry jam. Assertive but level tartness throughout, bit of cellar funk and medicinal phenols. Kiss of blackberry flavor in the middle, dry finish.

This beer talks to the palate about patience, lots of flavor and balance with some many nuances. Lots of fun to sip.

Tastes great, but this beer is so turbid that chunks of blackberry ( I hope its blackberry) are floating in it.

750 mL bottle poured into a pint glass.

Appearance - Murky reddish brown. Not much of a head, if anything.

Smell - Smells pretty nice. Berries. Acetic acid. Red wine and oak.

Taste - Berry flavor is strong up front. Caramel malt. Sourness kicks in with some oak and red wine, but then it all drops off and leaves a cardboard staleness in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Low carbonation. Slick feel from the seemingly oxidized nature.

Overall - Promising aroma, but kinda feel apart.

Big thanks goes out to beeruser for sharing this one at a recent Random Sunday Tasting! Poured a hazy red-orange with a half finger white head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, blackberry, tart, sour, and funk. The flavor was of sweet malt, blackberry, tart, funk, and fruit. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. While there was not a huge bit of complexity this one was actually quite good. All of the flavors and aromas going on were very complimentary of each other and made this one quite enjoyable for me. I could definitely drink quite a bit of this one given the opportunity. I have to give it to Rivertown on their sours as they are definitely onto something here.

This is immensely tart at first but the palate begins to adapt and catch the beauty of this beer. The sour and tartness is offset by a delicious raspberry sweetness. Light balsamic character mixes with a malty structure. This will only appeal to fans of sours but it's top notch amongst them.

Into a mini nonic it pours a hazy orange with a deep reddish glint from a distance. Soft fine foam texture, not much lace. Head and skim part quickly after a minute or two.

Pleasant aroma, fairly wild with a little minerality and tannic berries. Slightly woody.

Crisp and moderately tart with distinctive blackberry notes. Dry tannic aftertaste. Sharp acidic sourness that puckers a bit at first, then becomes fleeting. Pretty quenching, I enjoyed it though there wasn't a whole lot of depth or barrel complexity to it. We did a side by side with Juliet, and Juliet won unanimously. Still would recommend trying it.

Thanks to Chris for sharing this one!

750 ml bottle, vintage 2011. Served in a flute, the beer pours a reddish/amber color with an inch off-white head. Head retention is decent, and there's a good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice and tart, it smells like tart blackberries, oak, lemon peel and a little bit of vinegar. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also the addition of some tart apples and an overall sweet and tart berry flavor. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's dry and has a good amount of carbonation. It's also smooth and quite enjoyable to drink. I think this is a good brew. At $11.99 a bottle, I'd definitely buy this again. Too bad this one didn't stay around for too long, I guess I'll have to wait until next year to try it again.
