I went to the Rivertown tap room to try this and then got a growler. I was looking for something different and found it.
A-Poured in a plastic cup so I couldn't see a decent head.
S- the smell was not overpowering with blueberries , just a hint , with a light lager presence
T- I like beer I like blueberries..and they taste great together! There is a distinct but not to strong berry flavor, sweet blueberry flvor
MF- Not very full, didn't think that there was enough carbination
O- first really good blueberry beer I have had worth a try

When this beer was first introduced, it used to be served at The Holy Grail in Cincinnati with a handful of blueberries dropped inside the glass. For reviewing purposes, I simply poured it from a bottle into a New Belgium snifter (sans blueberries). The pour is light gold, crystal clear, and (like every beer Rivertown makes) undercarbonated. The nose does have strong notes of tart blueberries. It even has a bit of funk.

The beer has a light to medium body and a fairly firm feel (firmer than I expected, given the light color). It is crisp and grainy on the front of the palate with lots of breakfast cereal notes. The blueberries which are dominant on the nose are rather subdued and lend just a bit of tart, earthy flavor. The overall beer is rather refreshing, though light in flavor. One place where the blueberries do announce their presence is on the finish, which is a little dry and fruity, but rather short-lived.

I liked this beer, and that's saying something. The only other blueberry beer I've had (Sea Dog) I found absolutely repulsive. The blueberries do not contribute any objectionable qualities to this beer. I think a bit more carbonation in this beer would wake up the palate and intensify the flavor. Also, I have no idea what the malt bill is, but if I were making a blueberry beer, I would supplant some of the malted barley with wheat so as to lend a bit of refreshing tartness. I hope to drink this particular beer again someday. When I do, be advised that I intend to drink it with a handful of blueberries in the glass.

Big white head falls into a thin lacing above a clear straw golden colored beer.

Initially has a very strong blueberry aroma but as it sits the grain malts start to come out as well as some light sourness.

Artificial blueberry is there but it's not overbearing like some fruit beers end up but you can tell that it is the Kool-Aid kind of taste as opposed to a cooked in taste. I also should mention that you can taste light grain malts coming through in the taste which also helps to make this beer palatable.

A light grain malty dryish aftertaste on this light bodied blueberry lager.

This is a middle of the road fruit drink which is almost a reason to try it, you won't end up pouring it out like some of the lesser fruit beers and that's a big plus.

Typically not my cup of tea, but let's try it anyways just to see how this version came out. Pours a slightly hazed golden hue, with a bright white head forming thick. Dwindles pretty quickly, leaves behind speckled lacing down the sides of my pint glass. Aroma has tart blueberry notes, pretty artificial a lot like Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat, not a bad beer and has definitely caught on as the Fruity Pebbles beer. Flavor has a syrupy blueberry note, amongst a pale bread like malt backdrop, nothing cloying about it actually quite refreshing a bit of dry chalk yeast flavor. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied sturdy carbonation, these short stubby bottles look great the labels are attractive but so far their beer has been sort of lackluster. Overall, not the most impressive offering but a solid summer beer that leaves out off flavors like band aid/wet cardboard that I've experienced in some of their other offerings.

Poured into an E&J Cask & Cream glass on 4/3/12

The color is a slightly hazy, pale yellow. The head pours pretty thin and it's mostly loose bubbles. After but a minute or so, said loose bubbles are all that remain.

The aroma is artificial blueberry and cereal grains. The former vastly and disproportionately higher than the later. Oh joy.

The taste is artificial blueberry and cereal grains. The former vastly and disproportionately higher than the later. Oh joy.

Light body with, believe it or not, appropriate carbonation. A mild granular feel underscores a well-proportioned feel. The finish is clean and, thankfully, rather devoid of residuals.

After having so many Rivertown beers that seem to be bad bottles, it's nice to find one that seems to have survived the gauntlet that must be their bottling line; too bad it's an artificially flavored blueberry thingy.

All kidding aside, the flavors are a bit more balanced as this warms up. I don't like it enough to finish the bottle, but if artificial blueberry thingies are your thing, might as well give it a shot. I get the impression that if this were brewed sans blueberry, it might be a serviceable lager. Maybe.

A - Expecting a lager I expected more head yet only getting 1/4 inch that falls to a flat lace ring. Wow it's as light pils color that is very light indeed.

S - The smell is strong with this beer. Very little lager smell maybe some grain next to some artificial blueberry blueberry goodness.

T - Well it's not terrible which is better than expected. Mild blueberry in taste with equally mild grains and lager yeasts. Not the best fruit beer but good.

M - Light to medium. Goes down easy.

Overall nothing to really seek out but I wouldn't pass it up if given to me.

This cloudy, pale yellow light lager pours with a nice head, but no lace to note.

The aroma is definitely blueberry, but more in line with a Nehi soda than fresh.

Taste is very light, and not at all complex. There's a sure blueberry-like character, but it's a weird and funky sweet that clashes with the lager grains. Maybe I'm swayed by the bottle stating prominently that there's "artificial flavor added", but this just seems wrong. The finish is despicable and chemical-like. Awful.

Visiting Cleveland for a youth Hockey Tourny and the local beer store was carrying RiverTown BlueBerry Ale...so I tried it. The beer pored a haxy yellow and had a nice head but did not lace. The scent and taste were definitely dominated by BlueBerrys. The mouthfeel was light in body and had good carbonation. Overall it was a tasty beer and probably best served in the summer time.
