Notes:
A collaboration with one of Holland's best craft breweries. As a nod to Dutch culture and a little sense of humor, we brewed this one with toasted oats & appelstroop.

11.2oz. Picked up at Brawleys.
Cloudy brown amber pour, thin layer of white though I poured it pretty carefully. Looks like a Barleywine.
Aroma, pretty sweet, caramel, malt, raisin, some sherry. Light tea.
Taste, not getting the sweet fruit others have gotten. Do get earthy malt and peat. Toasted oats you can notice. There is sweetness, just not fruit. Toffee and raisin. Just faint herbal notes and bitterness.
Nearly medium bodied, ample carbonation. Alcohol not noticeable but not high to begin with.
Two breweries I have enjoyed and I thought the collaboration worked just fine. It's hard to find a good red, this is an example that is not the hopped up American version, which is just fine by me. Maybe a little expensive.

A - Amber-orange with a finger of frothy off-white head. Fades medium.
S - Sweet caramel malts, grapefruit and citrus hops, oats, apple, caramelized sugars, touch of bready malts.
T - Sweet caramel malts, grapefruit and citrus hops, mild bitterness, apple, brown sugar, caramelized sugars, oats, bready malts, bit of pine hops, bit of Belgian yeast.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a sweet and brown sugary finish.
D - Nicely balanced. The apple and syrupy flavors are a bit different but well balanced.

Pours a hazy orange-ish to brown in color with a small white head. In the aroma, faint green apple sweetness. In the taste, faint green apple sweetness and a note of apple tartness. A smooth and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a dryer small yeasty tartness in the aftertaste. A nice mellow tartness and small fruity presence, quite enjoyable.

A cellar temperature bottle is split between two glasses. I'm using a NERAX half-Imperial pint.
This si a slightly hazy amber beer, with a tan/pink foam head. Great lacing is left behind as the head recedes.
The nose is spicy and fruity. Apple, rye, and citrus hops are each mixed in.
The flavor isn't spicy at all, despite what I thought I smelled. There is a slightly dry flavor and plenty of oats. It's an interesting taste; I usually only have stouts that contain this much oat flavor. I only taste the apple flavors in the finish. Hop bitterness comes in after I swallow.
The beer is a bit thicker than average and carbonation is a tad low. A thin, watery coat is left behind, but it holds onto some good malt flavors.
This is a interesting amber. I like the oat addition a lot, and the apple syrup is unique (to me). It's very different from other Stillwater beers I've had. I recommend it!

Pours a one finger cream head that fades quickly to ring leaving traces of lace. Murky amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Light grapefruit and caramel nose flavor follows with a mix of grapefruit and caramel, light bitter finish. Pricey at $6.20 for a 330ml bottle from Tully's Beer and Wine Wells, ME.

This beer poured out looking very thick, minimal head on top with just a thin film on top. There is no real head retention or lacing here. The smell was malty and earthy, not much of a lively aroma or anything like that. The taste moderately sweet with some very muddy or earthy flavors in there following up with some oats in the finish. The mouthfeel was soft but thick, moderate carbonation with oily dry finish. Overall it's not my favorite from Stillwater but I was glad I had it.

Strong, malty aroma has an overtone of caramel and more than a hint of honey - wild mountain honey? ;) Pours a clear sepia with a nice pale tan head that leaves spotty lacing. Flavor has a nice overtone of caramel and honey, a strong malty underpinning, and a firm woody hoppy notes. Hoppy component is more woody than bitter. Smooth texture has decent body and good fizz. Tasty, if not spectacular. Love the pun!

A: The beer is very hazy amber in color and has some small sediments visible near the bottom of the glass along with a slight amount of carbonation. It poured with a thin but dense beige head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: There are aromas of caramel malts in the nose along with some notes of citrusy hops—grapefruit seem to stand out in particular.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has flavors of caramel along with notes of citrus and hints of apples. There seems to be a balanced amount of light sweetness and light bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit smooth on the palate with a light amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is rather easy to drink and the appelstroop makes the taste a little more interesting but it seems that it could use more carbonation.

11.2 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a murky amber/burnt orange color with a thin head that went away quickly. There's a decent amount of lacing left on the glass. The brew smells like sweet malt, apples, caramel and some light berries/fruit. It tastes like apples, grapes, sweet malt, caramel, and some grapefruit. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and creamy with moderate carbonation. I liked this brew more after I had been drinking it for a while. But at $5.99 a bottle, I'm not sure if I'd buy it very often. But it's certainly worth trying if you've never had it before.

consumed on 6/29, while I was "on Hiatus." picked up locally. enjoyed from my stillwater wineglass.
a - brew poured a deep burgandy reddish brown with a finger of head that left rather quickly leaving spotty lacing at best. rather attractive for an amber (oooh, stillwater doing an amber!!!)
s - nice caramel malts. hints of cinnammon, sweetness, and fruit. some berries in there. amber with some fruitiness. nice. you get the apples for sure.
t - oaty and grainy on an amber. the apples come out, but not as much as in the scent.
m - mouth is definitely on the creamy side for an amber. rather belgian, but kind of grainy and a bit dry in the finish. leaves a bit of a tingle.
o - overall, more than anything it is nice to see something that is not a saison coming from stillwater. i would love to see brian experiment with other styles. would LOVE for a stout. that being said, this is a pretty decent amber. the oats add a nice touch as do the apples. quite enjoyable for a style that i often find to be too malt and grain heavy. keep in mind that i'm a stillwater fanboy, but i genuinely dug this beer (wish they were bigger than 11.2 though).

Poured from the bottle into a Chimay goblet.
Appearance: The beer pours a cloudy reddish amber color with a very small layer of off white head.
Smell: This beer is quite sweet and has a strong fruit smell to it. I'm also getting some Belgian yeast spice.
Taste: Sweeter than most beers of the style. I'm getting the fruity notes, some grape and maybe some mild cherry as well. There is a candy like malt sweetness to this beer. The finish reminds me more of a traditional amber, some hop bitterness. The Belgian yeast spice is there, but it's in the background.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with tingly, fluffy carbonation and a dry finish.
Overall: This beer is alright, but a bit weird. The fruity notes were too prevalent. I don't think I'd have another.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint bottle. Had an amber color and a cloudy consistency. There was a small amount of foamy head that quickly dissipated. Good lacing.
S: A somewhat muted aroma of hops, malt, and caramel.
T: Tasted of hops (a moderate amount), some malt, and a little bit of caramel. Not an awful flavor, but much too thin to be memorable.
M: A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth, but thin finish. Light-bodied.
O: This isn't a bad beer, but kind of underwhelming.

A - Pours a cloudy brown. Minimal head and lacing.
S - Sweet caramel, dark fruit and malts.
T - Slightly sweet up front, floral, strawberry and bitter hops in the end. Slightly mehhh to say the least.
M - Good carbonation and mouthfeel here.
O - Nothing melds or compliments the beer while drinking it. Just odd to me.
