Reviewed from notes, I was sure that I had reviewed this beer in the past, but apparently not.
Beer is served in a snifter. Beer is brown and hazy with a wispy tan head of small bubbles, low carbonation, low lacing, low retention.
Aroma is fudgy, mildly roasty, comes off smelling a little like tootsie rolls.
Flavor is strong. Very sweet, strong, mildly bitter from roast at the back. The chocolate comes through very strong, it is the dominant flavor. It was fine but I liked the other version better.

Review #1400. Quite fitting that I review a special beer brewed for the bar whose staff has helped in my evolution as a beer drinker.
On cask at 72 Hours of Belgium.
Black with a dense off white head with good retention. A little lacing is present as well. Nose has chocolate, roast, light coffee licorice, molasses and fruity yeast. As it warms up, the nice brown caramel and sugar grows. This variant has more cocoa, obviously, but apart from that, there's a little vanilla too.
The palate opens with a nice fruity sweetness, brown sugar, caramel and molasses. Mildly sweet on the finish, it has a fantastic, creamy mouthfeel. A little sweeter and a little more dessert-like. Alcohol is well hidden. Very good stuff, this, though I like the cask variant of the base beer the most
