Got here late about an hour before close. Place had a pristine modern feel... a cleanliness to it I generally don't like in brew pubs but for some reason seemed to work here. The selection was OK, but not on a level I had hoped for as far as out of season stuff. There were a few rarities, but nothing earth shattering that I had hoped for from a great brewery. Service was good. Will probably go here again but for the most part it would have been from the prestige of the beer alone anyway.

This review is by no means a review on their beer. Their beer is still among my favorites. I remember when they didn't have that restaurant across from the brewery. I remember the taproom in the brewery was amazing. You used to be able to get tulips of Velvet Merkin on tap. I remember I tried to bribe one of the bartenders there to fill up a growler for me. I got turned down. The place was quaint, they didn't serve food and the bartenders cared about their beer and the customers. The place had high ceilings and a smaller floor plan with bench seeting and bistro tables. There were complimentary pretzels and peanuts. Well they have since closed this taproom to open up the pretty average eatery across the street. The bar is cool- they have a stainless conveyor belt with some of their beers along for the ride. The selection of beer is great, too. Sometimes they have their UDBA on cask which is amazing! The food reminds me of what I can get at TGIFs or Chili's. Not really the type of food I'd want to pair with their fine beer and pay that much for it. I used to live 7 minutes away. I counted. I loved going there but then they shut the small taproom down and opened up the pretty average restaurant. I just went to the bar anymore and it was kind of a bummer...

Nice location. It is in the middle of wine country. The taproom is like a regular bar/restaurant with a great beer selection. I was dragging my wife around California touring breweries, but she loved this place. They had a blueberry/fruit ale that she loved. I don't remember the name. Worth a visit.

The place looks great; however, it' feels more like a restaurant with the beer as an after thought. The beer was excellent as I'm accustomed to from FW. Our server was okay, but not too knowledgable. Good variety of beer styles, and the wine list looked good as well. The food was crazy overpriced and not very good. I'd only go back to scoop up some take home beers or to grab a pint.

What I said on Yelp:
This was the first brewery I've been to at which every single beer was good if not spectacular. There always seems to be at least one beer here or there, if not many, that just don't do it for me---even at my favorite breweries. But FW really is on to something.
I came in with my cousins and wife, one who enjoys beer but is not a fiend like me, the other who was looking to get wasted, and my wife who was most likely hoping to see cider on the menu. I can't say they were as impressed as I was, but they all found several beers to enjoy. And yeah, we tried every beer they had.
Of course, I threw down a two ouncer of the Sucaba and the Parabola first, squeezing them in before I took a guided tour. Both beers are highly sought among beer geeks and have high ratings on BA, so I couldn't contain myself. I was highly impressed by the smoothness and balance, even if the alcohol content in both was more apparent than I would've expected. I am chalking that up to the freshness of these beers that most people cellar, so I no complaints.
After the tour, which showed their blind tasting area, brewing components, and the kegging and canning process, I returned to the room ready to run through their menu. Thankfully, the small pour option (2 or 4 ounces, I forget) allowed our crew to find what we loved. I was unfortunately pressured to drink up quickly so I didn't take notes or really get the chance to savor and assess each beer the way I'd like to, but I can say with assurance that I could regularly drink FW's DBA, their Union Jack, the Wookey Jack, the Double Jack, the Unfiltered DBA (better than the regular!), the Double DBA, the Parabola and the Sucaba. I'd be in here everyday if I lived in the area. But the real treat was the Parabajava, the breweries coffee-laden version of the Parabola. Not only was this a great beer, but also a treat for being available only at the taproom.
Finally, you can pick up some of their brews, as well as snifters and mini-snifters and other swag in the taproom, much of this stuff being a real catch. I had to splurge on some bottles to take home to New Mexico and spent above $60 for three bottles. Well worth it though.

This is a cool place but has a very corporate feel to it. It is absolutely huge and I can't imagine too many times where there would be a long wait for a table. The place is very clean and modern.
The beer selection was a tad disappointing. There was a list of brewpub only beers, but none were all that interesting. The disappointing part was the lack of any of the special release beers on tap. I was told that I just missed a Parabola vintage release, which only made it worse.
On the positive, the service was EXCELLENT. And they sell bottles of the most recent release of Parabola, Double DBA, and Sucaba for on-premises consumption or to go for basically retail price ($17) and they also had the most recent anniversary beer for sale fro $24, which is also retail.
The food was good but nothing to write home about.

We always love to stop in to Firestone Walker when visiting Paso Robles. As my husband says, you need an IPA after a day of wine tasting. We usually sit in the bar area of the new restaurant. But we have visited the tap room prior to the restaurant being built.
The decor is brewery chic with an industrial feel. Service is usually good. I live the sample size pours available and are served in petite snifters. Functional and classy. The value I listed as a bit pricey for the food, the quality is worth it. The beers are very affordable.
Put this place on your must stop list when traveling on Hwy 101 in central Ca.
