This is a really cool place to check out, especially to grab brunch and then maybe a beer or two to bring home and save for later. The atmosphere is really cool, very artsy and cozy and the quality of the food is pretty great too. The service is good and all the people are very kind. Whenever I stop in there only seems to be one style available in bottles to go and I would really like to see a few more offerings available. I make the drive up from San Antonio which really isn't bad, but it would be nice to be able to grab a few different styles to bring home and save for later!

This isn't a place to go everyday to try a new craft beer. However, it does brew its own beer pretty regularly which just so happens to be awesome!
Atmosphere: near perfect. its a small but very "cute" little restaurant in a cellar. reminds me more of a cottage than bar. very tame and comfortable feel.
Service: great, you ask about a beer, the waiter will get you the beer expert and explain it to you. very enthusiastic as well!
Selection: not great. however they do brew very small batches of their own beer...which just so happens to be wonderful. they focus on belgian styles, which i think is awesome for a nano brewery in the middle of Texas.
Food: gourmet food, really really good tasting. my girlfriend and I loved it.

This is a very unique brewpub and restaurant in downtown San Marcos. I really enjoy it. It is a restaurant rather than a pub were you can just sit down at a bar. The room is made of stone with various types of wood tables to sit at. Lots of unique artwork on the wall. The main dinning area is not very large, but they have used the space well. A really cozy and enjoyable feel.
The service is good. The last time I came was for lunch on a Saturday and only had to wait about 15 minutes for a seat. All the waitresses are knowledgeable on the beers they make and the few other local selections. The food is just excellent. Last time I was here I had a pesto pasta with grilled chicken. Really well made food.
On to the beer. They only have three taps. They rotate two local Texas beers and have one tap for the Darkside beers. Though they don't always have their beers on. Usually that just ticks me off when visiting a brewpub, though it does not here. They make incredibly small batches, and when the keg is gone, that is it, but new beer is on every Tuesday. They also do a bunch of bottle releases, but they go fast as well. The beers are all Belgian styles. I have had a Triple, Belgian Pale Ale, and a Quad. All are very good, and each have interesting twists.
I really like this place. I wish there was more regularity with their own beers, but you can't beat the quality of the establishment, food and beer.
