On tap at Cheeky Monk over lunch. The beer is served in a tulip and arrives a murky hazy brown, like Coke, with a 1 finger cream colored head. Good retention and lacing throughout. Looks better than it is, in hindsight. The nose is rather muted, not not unpleasant, with tones of roast, caramel, and earthy hops. Not a lot to discuss. The flavor is very much the same with a caramel malt base sweetness. Roast and earthy hops. Not much in terms of flavor or complexity. Smooth and adequately carbonated. Overall, rather blah really. Nothing phenomenal. Not bad just not much to report, rather bland. Rare to be turned off by a Firestone Walker brew, bummer.

Kind of a musty smell. Have to admit it is a lovely brew in the glass with big, creamy, and long-lasting head. Golden-tinged brown in color. Nice mouthfeel with the fine carbonation and a little slickness.
Flavor is not much, even for a Brown Ale. Slight suggestion of roast malt. More caramel in the color than in the taste. A little nondescript dirty flavor. Something like sage with a touch of varnish.
Such a well-made beer, I am giving Firestone lots of credit for knowing how to brew. But they've wasted their talents here. If you ignore the anemic flavor you can enjoy the suds and beery mouthful. On tap at Ciros Beerhouse in San Diego.

Served on-draught into a nonical half-pint glass at the Firestone Walker taproom in Paso Robles on its second day of operation. Reviewed from notes. Expectations were average given the brewery - which I'm not too fond of.
Paired with a steak and fries.
A: Pours a half finger head of nice thickness, nice cream, and awful retention. Colour is a cola amber.
Sm: Amber hops, cream, caramelized malts, and dark malts. A mild strength aroma. Hemp doesn't at all come through.
T: Clean dark malts, amber hops, hints of cherry fruit esters, cream, and amber malts. Hints of nut. Balanced but simple. Built strangely for a so-called brown ale. No hemp comes through, nor does any alcohol or yeast. Enjoyable, but not subtle or complex.
Mf: Smooth and wet. A bit overcarbonated. A biteen too thick. Complements the flavours in a general sense, but certainly doesn't feel tailored specifically to them. Nothing unique or special here.
Dr: Drinkable but a bit boring. The hemp doesn't come through, and feels more like a gimmick than a flavour profile choice. For a brown ale, it's quite amber-esque. I wouldn't have it again.
