Pours black with a small dark tan head that quickly fades to a ring. Aroma is a blend of cocoa, sweet caramel and vanilla, some woody tannic notes,sweet black licorice, boozy bourbon, and some roasted malts. Taste follows with a good dose of the sweet vanilla and caramel riding over the roasty malts and some cola, then falling back, allowing the roasty notes to come thru as well as the black licorice, and some nice bourbony flavor that lingers in the finish before a slightly drying oaky aftertaste. Mouthfeel is very nice, soft and creamy, light, yet full, a bite at the back of the throat from the alcohol, towards the finish, slight dryness in the finish melds well with some of the sweet notes from the barrel ageing. Overall a delicious beer, I admit I lean more towards the 10 & 11 because of their old ale / bwine characteristics, whereas this blend is much more stout heavy, but even so, a great beer, that seems like it will mellow and improve with a year or two.

Cracked this one with some friends...to make sure my aged beers were holding up..this one..yep!
A: black beer gold with a bit o'lace
S: complex as you'd expect from a blend...not one dominating aroma...just a mixture as you'd get from standing in a pasture on a Spring blooming day...ahhh
T: licorice, choc..all the usual suspects were present and accounted fo
MF: carb was spot on...smooth on the palate begging for moe
O: Wish I had more

this hit the spot and bummed I only have one left...next up..a FW12 or FW14
