The last of my Jamaican beer experiences...
A - Pours a slightly darker caramel colour than the original Red Stripe, little head or retention and no lacing.
S - Scent is a bit stronger than the flagship beer, with a bit of caramel and burnt sugar coming through.
T - A bit maltier than the original, which is dominated by a bready malt flavour and a bit of cardboard and leather on the finish. The ABV is noticeable, which at 6% should be easily hidden. Some grassy hops linger and a sour bitterness remains.
M - Medium bodied ale that goes down smooth but finishes with too much dryness. A dryness reserved for hop bomb ales, but present in a less than amicable beer.
D - Overall, I'd take down a regular Red Stripe over the Bold any day. The malt flavours are a bit stale in nature, and the ABV is too in your face. Stick to the original when visiting the Carribean because this is less than worthy.

My parents brought this back from their recent trip to Jamaica. I guess it is fairly new offering from Desnoes and Geddes in the Red Stripe lineup. 275ml bottle "Double Fermented."
A: Pours a dark gold, about the same color of apple juice. Big frothy off white head that dies out pretty quick.
S: Sweet malt, maybe a touch of skunkiness. Typical lager smell, not much here.
T: Hmmm. I wonder if the temperature changes this beer went through affected the taste. It is bready up front, sweet malt. It goes south after that.... bitter, sour. Not the best tasting by any means.
M/D: Decent mouthfeel. Slightly creamy. Way less carbonated compared to the normal red stripe. This would be very drinkable in the hot sun on the beach. It has a lot more flavor than normal red stripe, its BOLD for a reason.
Not bad. Better then normal Red Stripe.
