Appearance: Pours a very pale foamy color, however I'm disappointed about the lack of foam in this compared to regular Red Stripe once the beer settles. Average to good bubbles.
Smell: Not nearly as sugary as its brother, but I still detect some sweetness. A fairly malty beer for this style. It's mostly just cooked grain. Overall, I'm happy though.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Grain malts with a bit of a metallic (though not unpleasant) aftertaste. Feels kind of watery and leaves a thick, sour aftertaste.
Drinkability: Not that far off from Red Stripe, which is above average.
Overall: Stick with regular Red Stripe.

The downside to diabetes is not being able to drink beers I loved. Red Stripe was a favorite, and chock full of carbs. Red Stripe Light still delivers some of that Jamaican flavor, while cutting the carbs down to ten per bottle. It has a better flavor than most American light beers. If you like RS regular and can no longer drink it, give the Light a try. Now if they could come up with a low-carb Dunkel. Sigh.

23 Jan 2013 and our ship docked at Montego Bay: we hit Doctor Cave Beach for the day. The bar there had small (275ml) clear bottles of this beer available, so I had a couple to keep me cool.
The brew is very light in colour, a pale gold I suppose with no head to see (I drank them from the bottle, no glass).
Slight grainy nose, but nothing much.
The taste was leaning towards hoppy and had a semi-bitter dry finish: I found it refreshing and just what I needed at the time. This is not the srot of beer I'd normally buy, but it was sunny, hot and I was in Jamaica!

Pours a clear, straw yellow color with about one finger of fluffy white head with decent retention.
The scent is of sweet corn and buttery notes.
The taste is very light, corn and light grain is most consistent, some notes of hops.
Light body, thin and crisp, high carbonation.
Overall, not really for me but pretty average for the style.

Almost a finger of head. Clear, (yellow?) almost colorless body.
Strong metallic smell. Not appealing.
Metallic taste too. Really watery. A metallic bitter at the end. Not enjoyable.
Low carbonation. Light body, but not crisp.
Does anyone really drink this for real?

Reviewed from notes:
Clear light gold with a small white head with poor retention and no lacing. Smells like cooked veggies and grain. Blah.
Tastes like cooked veggies and grain. Lightly sweet, with no hop flavor. Watery.
Light bodied with light carbonation. More watery than anything else. Not worth the effort to even try it.
