On tap at Emporium Arcade Bar
Appearance - Very Dark. Some light getting through around edges. Not much. Small ring of head around the glass. Minimal, spotty lacing.
Smell - Warm bourbon, oak, coffee, chocolate malt.
Taste - Coffee and bourbon dominate without being overbearing. Slightly watery. The regular Eugene base really takes a backseat here. I can barely recognize it.
Mouthfeel - Thin body, medium carbonation, finishes sticky and dry.
Overall - Underwhelming but still not bad. I love the regular Eugene so I had high hopes for this one. Some people said it was better than KBS. It's not even close to KBS. Too light and watery for a bourbon barrel beer, in my opinion. I'll pass on this one next time.

Pours a very dark brown, just about black color with a small, light-tan head that goes down quickly. Scent is packed with boozy bourbon and vanilla aromas. Hints of cocoa and oak, along with a bit of coconut and a good amount of coffee. As the beer warms, the coffee comes through more. There is also a tad bit of dark fruit aromas. Taste is pretty much just as it smells...starts out with sweet chocolate and vanilla, immediately followed by boozy oak flavors. Bitter chocolate and coffee finish. Mouthfeel is a bit on the light side, and really doesn't compliment this beer much. Drinkability is high for the ABV. Overall, this is a solid beer, but I was expecting just a bit more. The mouthfeel is a bit on the watery side and the flavor profile is lacking just a bit. Very fortunate I got to try this one though!

22 oz bottle served in a Pipeworks snifter.
A: Pours dark black color with a tan head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring that leaves some stick around the edges of the glass.
S: Espresso and chocolate covered coffee beans. Roasted malts with a very light bourbon note in the background. More so the residual barrel notes with a touch of roasted malts.
T: Ground coffee, espresso creaminess, with some light bourbon and light vanilla. Roasted malts in the background.
M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation level. Coffee bean finish.
O: The barrel is very light in this one. I wish it would have stayed in the barrel a little longer. Still nice overall, but I've had better coffee beers.

22oz, Bottled 3/6/13
5oz mini snifter
A: Pours a nice deep brown, not black (it looks like a porter should). You get some light through it. Reddish hues through edges. Light tan head. Sticky lacing. Some alcohol feet, even with the small glass.
S: Nice vanilla. Smooth coffee. Oak. Chocolate.
T: Coffee and vanilla dancing on tongue. You get a nice mesh of chocolate and vanilla and roast coffee bitterness throughout this sip. But the body doesn't make it too much to take. I wouldn't say session beer, but you could enjoy this and have something afterwards. The bourbon integration is really nice. Awesome stuff.
M: Medium bodied.

Big thanks to scalzo for hooking me up with this one! Freshie fresh... bottled this March:
Pours just like a big porter ought to... coffee black body with a creamy half finger of khaki head that settles down pretty quickly to create a steady collar with nice lace.
Loads of sweet, soft bourbon on the nose. Caramel and coffee, mellow, smooth... a bit of molasses, pecan... inviting stuff this is.
Bourbon definitely holds the reigns. Sweet, tangy bourbon flavors supported by some coffee and vanilla. Finish is pretty hollow with a residual sugar flavor that clings to the far back of the palate.
Tasty stuff - wish the coffee was more apparent though.
