had on tap at rev. Poured into a tulip. Pours a chocolate color with a foamy head.
Nice and malty aromas of roasted beans, chocolate and other malts. Not too complex and fairly straightforward.
medium bodied with good flavors of chocolate and espresso notes with some roasted malts too. Good depth, but the finish is fairly clipped.
A solid brew from Rev. Didn't fully hit me in all the right spots, but one I certainly wouldn't turn away.

On-tap at Revolution. Served in a 5oz taster glass.
A - Filled to the brim so it's hard to speak about head volume and retention. What was there settled to a wisps and a thin collar. Dark brown body with ruby highlights. Minimal lace is left as the beer is consumed.
S - Smells like some sort of nut bread. Phenolic yeast, nuts, bready malts, perhaps a hint of cocoa and spice. A lot more potent than the Usethe, and seems to be served at a warmer temperature.
T - The taste is similar but with a bit more honey sweetness. Bready with spicy Belgian yeast, nuts, and grain.
M - Nice heft for 4.7%. Medium-bodied with a grainy texture, moderate carbonation, and a chewy finish.
D - This was a pretty interesting beer and I can't recall having very similar. I enjoyed this one and would have it again as it's got a lot of flavor for the alcohol content.

Served in a tulip glass at the brewpub.
The celebration is sorta winding down, for me, at least, so let's just finish things up with this guy. He pours a dark black-sienna highlighted in ruby and topped by a finger of light tan foam. The nose comprises light dark chocolate powder, clove, cinnamon, light roasted malts, seared caramel, and a touch of vanilla bean. The taste brings in more of the same, with the spices seeming to dominate benignly. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly grainy feel. Overall, a very nice little brew, one that more than served its purpose as my nightcap.
