On-tap at Revolution. Served in a mug.

A - Small white foam settles to a thin cap, leaving behind minimal lace. Translucent amber body.

S - Earthy, with lots of grains and light fruity esters in the periphery. Fairly restrained sweetness for the style.

T - Again, very earthy, with toasted grains, bread, and mild farmhouse yeast spice. Some earthy and mildly bitter hop character comes through in the finish.

M - Zesty carbonation, medium and mildly chewy body, and well-hidden alcohol. Quite filling - I felt like I'd had a meal after finishing my mug.

D - Very dry and earthy take on this style. No major problems, but not overtly interesting. I didn't need the whole mug of this, but

Served from a growler into a red cup. Dark caramel copper color, with lasting ample foam that remains behind for a long time.

Aromas of dried fruit and a slightly musty yeast, along with some sweet grains. Slight apricot and fig impressions.

Clean and bitter aftertaste, malty bready biscuit in the middle, slight yeasty fruitiness upfront. Flavors seem to be malt forward with some graininess and a mild yeasty fruit presence. Light to medium bodied with a seemingly low level of carbonation due to the growler. Overall fairly true to style and pretty drinkable.

Served in tulip att he brewpub. Appearance is brilliant gold with nice clarity. Thin layer of white head initially, not much retention. Nose is heavy in fruity ester and sourdough bread. Yeast come through along with grape, berries, and grain. Taste starts with more fruit character and has some Saison like qualities intermixed. Finish is clean and dry with moderate sweetness. Mouthfeel is somewhat light with high carbonation. Overall, this one is nicely executed and has decent balance.

A - Poured dark amber with decent clarity. slight lacing.

S - Floral smell, with earthy psice and fresh berries.

T - Listed by Rev as a saison, but I think BA has it right. Some hop bitterness but forward flavor is mildly sweet.

M - Carbonation is there, and leaves a bitter feel on the tongue.

O - I liked Double Fist and Coup De Grace better. This was okay but not all that interesting.

poured from tap into a tulip. Pours a nice medium orange/gold color with a good foamy head.

Very good and balanced aromas of grains, herbs, citrus notes and some bits of spices and leather. Very good complexity but lacking a slight bit of depth.

Very fresh and balanced medium/full body with a nice feel. The finish is a bit clipped and the mid is lacking a slight bit with notes of grains, herbs, spices and some citrus.

A nice and refreshing biere de garde. This was done quite well and was enjoyable.
