This beer is retired; no longer brewed.
Aged for a respectable 9 months in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels this is one extremely complex and yet very drinkable stout. In this mellow dark ale are all the wonderful aromas and flavors of vanilla, caramel and coconut from the bourbon and the charred American Oak barrel staves.

On-tap at Rev Kedzie Grant Opening Party.
A - Pours black, light tan-colored head, wisps.
S - Bourbon, roast, oak, dark fruit, and some paint thinner. Not sure if the barrel-aging was "off" here or what, but it's hard to escape that fusil paint thinner note.
T - Better then the nose suggests. Rye, roast, oak, bourbon, light vanilla. Still, lots of booze and over-abundant for only 8%. Finish is booze with some sweet burnt sugars.
M - Medium body, light carbonation, creamy sweet finish.
O - My one and only pour was enough for me. It wasn't necessarily a bad beer, just too much barrel-character to really pick up much else.

On-tap at Revolution Grand Opening party. Served in a Great Taste of the Midwest tulip.
A - Dark tan foam settles to a wispy partial cap, thick collar, but no lace. Very dark brown body.
S - Lots of rye, fruity notes, dark chocolate, and fairly low sweetness. Unfortunately there's an unpleasant nail polish remover smell as well. I'm surprised to see this is aged in Woodford Reserve barrel, as it seemed more like Jack Daniels beer.
T - The taste is better, as the acetone note is gone. Plenty of whiskey, rye, dark chocolate, dark fruits, and perhaps a hint of molasses. Pretty solid, but somewhat underwhelming for Revolution.
M - Smooth texture, medium body, lower carbonation, and a dry, oaky finish. No obvious alcohol presence.
D - Other than the slightly off aroma, this is a pretty solid barrel-aged rye beer. (Un)fortunately Revolution makes other barrel-aged offerings that are significantly better than this one.

The life of a repo man is always intense!
This pours a solid black with dark lacing. There’s a big boozy aroma upfront, dominating over the roast. Flavor is also booze forward, warming more than hot, with notes of leather, vanilla, and dark chocolate matched alongside a beautiful bourbon flavor. It warms well and finishes delightfully.

Wow, surprised to see the low scores on this one. I thought it was excellent.
Pours a tan head. Color is black.
Aroma: Big rye flavor up front with a lot of oak and bourbon. Vanilla, chocolate and caramel. I also get a lot of coconut flavors. Awesome!
Taste: Vanilla and coconut up front. Followed by bourbon and oak. Then some rye and spice. Reminds me a tad of bcs for some odd reason.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, warming, and delicate. Medium to full bodied with a low to medium amount of carbonation. Ends dry, but clean.
Overall, Really great bal-aged beer. Very drinkable and very tasty. The barrel flavors were awesome. I could drink a lot of this.

had at rev and poured into a snifter. Pours a dark black with little head
There is a big dose of bourbon from the start. That's expected with it being aged in bourbon barrels, but it's a slight bit distracting here. There are solid aromas of vanilla, dark chocolate, black cherries and malts
full bodied, but disjointed. The bourbon overpowers and the feel is lacking a bit as well. There are some flavors of vanilla, black cherries and malts, but they are hidden underneath the heavy amount of bourbon
The barrel aged beers can be hit or miss and this was a miss. Oh well

A - Black beer with some brown edges. Very tiny brownish head that fell away fast and left nothing throughout consumption.
S - Bourbon, apples, some crystallized rye and chocolate. The base beer is kind of obliterated by the bourbon. Not particularly good.
T - Taste is quite boozy. Basically a lot of bourbon taste with some crystallized rye and sweetness. Warms up the stomach in a surprising way when it hits. Unfortunately what made the base beer good has been lost. This is a bit of a mess.
M - Overcarbonation is a bit distracting. Fairly full bodied.
O - Not sure if it needs time to cool, or the base beer wasn't big enough to handle how long it was in the barrel, but this is a step down from the regular version. Wouldn't get this again.
