22oz bottle into a tulip

A: Pours a very clear light amber color with two fingers of fluffy white head. Good retention and lacing.

S: The aroma starts out with a touch citrusy hops that are quickly overtaken by earthy and somewhat dank hops. I get a bit of pine as well. A moderate amount of caramel sweetness is also evident.

T: Dank and earthy hops are now front and center, stronger than any other flavor. I also get a bit of spearmint in the hop flavor. Bready malts are way in the background, with very little sweetness. Low bitterness.

M: Medium to light thickness for the style with light carbonation.

O: I'm not a huge fan of the dank hops, though Lagunitas obviously is. The flavor is very clean and crisp and I definitely enjoy it, but I'd prefer a different hop profile.

Raul is on the beat and during it well. Straight up at the Lagunitas taste room and sucking on the goody goodies.

Raul's Dodger shirt might not be playing well with the crowd, but Fillmore Pale Ale is. So many times Raulsky has had a Pale Ale that deters between an IPA and what it claims to be. But this thang? Straight Pale Ale goodness. Yep!

A-Pours a lightly foggy, glowing honey color. Light head. Very mild lacing. The body really shines.

S-Light nose but what it lacks in intensity it pays back with pleasantries. Light tropical hops. Soft citrus and pineapple. The hops are well balanced by a mixture of cracker and sweet bread.

T-The flavor is also light but tasty. Exotic paler-flesh hop flavors such as apricot and pineapple are backed by clementines. Malt softly supplements the hops.

M-This brew is extremely drinkable. Super-sessionable. My flight of it was gone in an instant. Subtle bitterness.

O/D-Nothing about this beer will blow you away but I love those easy-imbibing APAs that stress hop complexities. Would be a solid six-pack or even a great summer 12-pack. I can only wish right?

Attractive amber-tinged golden in the tall Stella glass. A nice head to start and plenty of frothy lacing. Quite adequate carbonation in the mouth.

Smells quite hoppy, but the taste is not so bitter. Fairly light bodied. Modest fruity flavor with a hint of pear skins. Lots of resiny and piney flavors. Dark undertones of burnt biscuits. Bitter aftertaste wears out its welcome, but IPA enthusiasts will like this one. Foam lasts well in the glass.

A plain but quite quaffable Pale Ale. If it was even a little lower in ABV it would be a great entry in the Utah Supermarket Beer sweepstakes. From the 22 oz bottle bought at Coit Liquor in San Francisco.

Bottle poured into a clear plastic cup. Beer pours a dark amber, mostly clear, with two plus fingers of loose bubbly white head. Head laces a decent amount while dissipating quickly. A few bubbles here and there, but not super carbonated.

Nose is pure pine and grapefruit. Not much malt character coming through the hop aromas.

Hop bitterness hits the tongue first, more bitter than expected for an APA, primarily pine and herbal hops, with a touch of grapefruit peel as it warms. Some caramel malt sweetness comes through as you swallow. Lingering pine flavors predominantly.

Light mouth feel with a decent amount of carbonation. Pretty tasty APA and very easy to drink as the initial bitterness is easy to grow acclimated to.

Pours a nice medium amber gold. Transparent, no noticeable haze. Big white head. Rocky with big bubbles sticking to the walls of the glass. The aroma could be turned up. It has a nice hop tone of grapefruit, tangerine, grass and a bit of pine. There's also a pleasant malt presence contributing a good deal of caramel. Maybe a touch of butter. With a big increase to the hop aroma, this beer would shine. The taste is a step up from the aroma. There's some pleasant bitterness, particularly in the finish. Fairly dry. Very easy to drink. The malt flavor is pleasant enough. Nice doughy, caramel flavor. However, this is a hop-forward APA, and while the hops are well handled in the taste, they need to be turned up in the aroma. Still, this is a good beer, and I'd be very happy to drink a few pints while watching a football game or something. Nice session-ish beer.

Picked this up at City Beer Store last week $4.99.

Pours a crystal clear medium gold with a densely packed topping of white foam. Good retention and lacing. Mixed fruity bouquet with pineapple, tangerine, and a kiss of mango. Some honeydew/melon comes on later. Mostly clean malt backbone lets the fruity hops shine in typical Lagunitas fashion. Citrus, mixed tropical fruits making up the primary flavors. Very subtle toasted malt with just a hint of spice. Moderate level of bitterness on par with many a pale ale. Dry and clean on the back end. Moderately bodied with an appropriate level of carbonation.

Smooth, well-flavored pale ale loaded up on tropical/citrusy hop notes. According to an article on SF Weekly, they're using an experimental hop variety (ADHA 483) in this brew. Might have to track some down and brew with them at home…tasty stuff!
