From: Binny's, Schaumburg, IL
Bottled: "26065116" stamped on bottle's neck
Glass: Tulip

Pours a 1cm head of fairly clean, white foam, made up of small and medium-sized bubbles, which eventually fades to a thick ring around the glass and a few sparse islands of residual foam atop the beer's body. Lacing exists and is substantial, with residual sheets covering the sides of the glass, creating a somewhat doily-like pattern. The beer's body is semi-hazy, golden-orange out of light, a bright, but pale yellow-orange when near a source of luminescence. Carbonation is visible, largely streaming from the base of the tulip glass.

Dank hop aroma, with peach and nectarine being most noticeable, along with a bit of generic hop-oil body odor. Some grapefruit and generic citrus also exist. In general, a substantial and heavy collection of scents for a session brew.

Taste is surprisingly light, yet full of fresh fruit flavors, including some nectarine, peach, tangerine, and juicy mild grapefruit. Specifically, the taste begins with some mild pale malt sweetness alongside slightly bitter light grapefruit and orange citrus. Mid-palate features tangerine and grapefruit/grapefruit rind bitterness and flavor over a very modest malt base. Back of palate picks up continued, though milder, bitterness along with some peach, nectarine, and grapefruit flavors. Aftertaste is mild, with some modest bitterness and malt graininess.

The body of the beer is fairly light, perhaps light to medium-light in weight, with substantial carbonation that prickles the palate slightly, but also foams the beer up substantially. The result is a slightly prickly, yet overall smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Finish is semi-dry, with little to no stickiness left around the palate.

A: Clear, light golden hue with a large bubbly head and nice lacing

S: Lots of hops up front: pineapple and grapefruit especially; really mostly a lot of citrus aromas with just a touch of sweet maltiness underneath

T: Lots of citrus, grapefruit bitterness up front but nothing really to balance it out, so it's just hops; I like it and it's refreshing but it's missing a backbone

F: Too thin--though crisp and refreshing

O: I like this and it would be a fantastic mowing beer but it is pretty thin and unbalanced but I suppose that's what you are going to get when you have a sub 5% ABV on an IPA

DayTime packs an absurd amount of flavor and taste for a sub-5.0% ABV beer and gives Stone’s Levitation a run for its money as the most delicious sessionable craft beer in existence. I’ve searched in vain for the hop profile, but I am fairly certain that DayTime is brewed with copious amounts of Citra. In fact, following my second or third time having this delightful brew, I realized what it reminded me of most — Zombie Dust Light, if such a thing existed. DayTime is pure beer-drinking delight, and the only misstep Lagunitas has taken here is the fact that it was issued as a seasonal/limited release. Still waiting for DayTime to get the call to the year-round big leagues; in the meantime will just have to wait for the 2013 iteration this fall.
