Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Julian date code of 6/1/11 brewed date. It was a clear orange amber color with lots of floaters and good carbonation . It had a good sized head that slowly settled into a constant foam cap. Good sheeting with some sticking.
The aroma was caramel malt, piney hops, citrus and a little booze. Liked the pine aroma alot. The taste was good as well with a good balance between the caramel malt and the pine. Booze showed a little but not as much as you'd expect on a 9.7% abv. Mouthfeel was full and a little creamy with good carb levels.
Overall, a really good strong ale that I highly recommend. This isn't one of my normal go to styles but this one was very good. Avail here in TX. Rotation - very good but don't me see me buying many of these except the rare single. [O;O]

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass.
A: Dark copper in color with a huge white cloudy head that lasts forever. No collar or lacing to speak of.
S: Huge sweet, sticky hop nose; mostly American bittering hops with spicey, floral notes with some sweet fruit in the background (oranges?). A bit of bready malt.
T: Hit with both, malt and hops right out of the gate. Big floral American bittering hops, some pine and fruit as well. There is alsoi a pronounce malt character: sweet thick caramel and some deeper roasted notes.
M: Medium body and carbonation. Very full and round.
O: Huge hop nose and massive bittering hops on the palate with a sticky and sweet caramel malt backbone. For my personal preference, the hops overpower the beer; this was probably the intent and to that end it is successful; it is just a bit out of balance for me.

A - Tawny brown with a large, foamy, light, bubbly, off-white head. Fairly good retention leaving a nice patchy lace.
S - Strong caramel and toffee aroma. Orange and apple sweetness jump out. Hints of the slightly boozy, vodkaesque aroma that you get with some DIPAs along with a hint of honey. Fairly sweet. Touches of pine in the background.
T - Plenty of malt sweetness with caramel, toffee, and touches of light brown sugar. Slight orange and grapefruit sweetness in the back. Touches of dark cherry and apple. Hints of pine with a slight bitterness on the finish. A whisper of booziness in the back throughout the sip.
M - Light to medium body with slightly below average carbonation. Fairly slick and oily. A touch thin.
D - Fairly sweet and while it is quite malty, there is a nice balance all around. Goes down easy but has enough of a kick and some heft to be filling and satisfying.
Notes: Solid Strong Ale. More malty than hoppy, but there is a significant hop presence. Hints of alcohol but nothing too outrageous. Overall it is a fairly balanced Strong Ale with a bold, yet balanced flavor. Nice beer, particularly for the price, but nothing amazing.
