Hop Stoopid bears the intensely grapefruit-and-pine bitter aroma of a good IPA, mixed with a healthy dose of sugary rosewater, peach, apricot, brown sugar, and vanilla. Judging by smell alone, this is a high-quality beverage, as indicated by the breadth and depth of sugars and bitter aromas.
On the tongue, the brew begins with a brief sugary blast--which lasts for about 1/4 second--then the hops kick in and the tastebuds curl in bitter joy. Huge grapefruit and pine notes dominate the brew, the result of the massive 102 IBUs. Beneath the hops, however, lies an equally flavorful beer, complete with apricots and pecans, figs and lychee nuts, and good hints of biscuity, Grape Nuts cereal-like toasted grains. The aftertaste is largely hops (as should be expected), and lingers for quite a while. Mouthfeel is medium-light, and carbonation is medium.
Overall, this is a solid IPA, and hop lovers will surely rejoice at its Brobdingnagian bitterness, but it is also a good beer in its own right. Well worth trying.

Bottle into a pint glass. Lives up to the hype. Big, hoppy flavor with citrus, mostly lemon. Nose mirrorsmthe and strength. Very sweet smell and taste that is a bit unique for an IPA, but awesome. Mouthfeel was fairly easy going for an imperial. Get down.

A - Orange-copper in color, an aggressive pour leads to a 1 finger head that dissipates into a nice sticky lace ring. Coated the glass all the way down.
S - A heavy dose of Citra hops, and a caramel sweetness.
T - Bright and tangy. Much sweeter than I expected, hop notes are there, but the bitterness is not. I even pick up an almost strawberry flavor, delicious.
M - Easy drinking, especially at this ABV. Just sweet enough, not cloying at all. Finish is fresh and wet.
O - A West Coast IIPA suitable for hot weather drinking around here. Not so weighty feeling that I have to wait for cooler times, and I really appreciate that.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter
Appearance
Golden straw with 2 fingers of off-white head that dissipates quickly. Excellent clarity and moderate carbonation.
Nose
Dank, pineapple, papaya, tangerine, lemon and candy sugar.
Taste
Candied citrus, pineapple, papaya, tangerine and lemon. Thin candy sugar backbone with drops of caramel and toast. Dank resinous pine and lemon zest finishes it off.
Mouthfeel
Light-medium bodied, crisp and dry.
Overall
Packed full of hops with just a tiny malt profile to balance things out. Very quaffable for 8.0% and a great value at $5.99/22oz bottle.

The color is a beautiful ruby orange with a finger of head.
The aroma is of tropical fruit, grapefruit, dank hoppiness, floral hops, herbacious hops, a bit of resin, and Simcoe pineyness. It’s a very refreshing aroma.
The flavor is of malt, then big grapefruit and some citrus peel. There's some pine and grassiness. The balance is just fantastic. It’s so well balanced.
The finish is clean, easy, and dry. It lingers a bit, but it doesn’t have a stickiness. It’s very dry however, but it has a lovely finish. Don’t get me wrong, it is quite bitter, but it’s exciting. Despite its ABV and bitterness, it is pretty easy to drink.
I really recommend this. This is up there with some of the best West Coast Double IPAs out there. For value, this is one of the best Double IPAs, or even beers in general, you can get at $5-6 a bomber.
