22oz bomber (no date) poured into a snifter.
Appearance: Clear golden-orange beer. Poured a light tan 1/4" head that was light and fluffy, which died down to a thin ring at the edge and some across the top. Strands and islands of persistent lacing noted all over the glass.
Smell: Mango, faint pine, citrus (grapefruit and orange). Some nice sweet malt at the back on a deep inhale. Nicely aromatic and appealing.
Taste: With a name like Hop Stoopid I was expecting a bitter wallop and I don't get that at all. Instead, mango and citrus hops up front, a nice middle malt backbone (sweet - caramel and sugary) and then a bitter pine-like finish at the end which lingers a bit. Quite nice and a very tasty beer.
Mouthfeel: Very little carbonation on the tongue, but that's okay, too much and it would get in the way of all the flavors going on here. Smooth with a good thickness. Very little hop oil sticking to the teeth with this one.
Overall / Drinkability: A very tasty brew - and dangerous. The ABV is well hidden and I could easily see myself having another glass. If this is what hop extracts can yield in a DIPA, I think I like the extracts quite a bit. I can drink it by itself, and I could have it with a meal - but in this case I think the beer clashed a bit with the meal. I know some swear that spices and hops go together, but in the case of red beans and rice spiced up with Frank's hot sauce, it did not go well together. Oh well - not every beer pairing can go well. Still, a good beer and I can see why this beer is as highly rated as it is. Not just for hopheads - although the more hoppy you like your beer the more you'll like this beer.

I sampled a cellar temp bottle of this brew and poured into a snifter.
The beer pours a bright clear copper with fluffy eggshell white head of 4 cm foaming up even with a gradual pour.
The aroma is some caramel and toffee with light citrusy grapefruit and a bit of orange and other tropical fruit.
First sip reveals a sticky texture with fine tingly carbonation.
Flavor is briefly sweet toffee and malt that rolls to some rindy grapefruit, orange pulp and a bit of herbal bite. The finish is very dry and the booze is hidden very well. Quite an enjoyable beer that goes down very easy for a bigger booze and robust flavored drink.
I appreciate the quality even though it isnt my favorite style, worth a shot for certain.

Clear and golden amber. A semi-aggressive pour yielded a nice, three-finger head. Retention is only OK, but there's a pretty solid lace crown left behind. Big time grapefruit/pine/resin on the nose. Pungently dank, hoppy aroma.
Despite the 100+ IBUs, the perceived bitterness isn't super-high because of a solid malt backbone. What you do perceive is plenty of grapefruity, grassy hop goodness. Some malty sweetness kicks in, but the hop bitterness keeps it in the background. The massively hopped flavor is appreciated, but it's so resiny and unrelenting that it fatigues the palate. Some, however, may find this appealing. Alcohol is nicely under control, and the oily mouthfeel and carbonation level is spot-on for a big IPA.
An old-school C hop bomb and a good value to boot. Not at all refined, kind of in a good way. Worth trying if you're a hophead.

Pours a beautiful amber with a massive pillowy white head that lingers and lingers. Nice lacing, crisp and clear body.
I smell a lot of tropical fruits, some biscuity malts a little resin.
A classic west coast DIPA. tropical fruits, good malt backbone,
This is a classic for a reason. Incredibly smoothe and easy drinking. You're not reading this because you're unsure what Hop Stoopid is. HS is known, and it's known for a reason. It's a very good west DIPA.

Poured from a 650 ml bottle into a La Fin du Monde Tulip Glass
A: A beautiful light copper color; almost the color of honey. It pours to a big, thick white head that slowly dies down leaving lots of lacing (which persisted to the very end!).
S: Whoa, that’s a lot of hops!!! A huge hop bouquet that is dominated sticky, resinous pine. There is also a lot of citrus in there (some oranges and grapefruit maybe). This beer smells awesome!
T: What can I say, ‘effing awesome!!! Hop Stoopid, as the name suggests, has a massive hop flavor with tons of sticky piney hops. The massive amounts of bittering hops work in perfect balance with a sweet caramel malt base. There must be a huge grain bill but the sweetness is not coating or overpowering and in the end, the beer finishes very clean with lingering flavors of malt and pine and grapefruit.
M: Full, rich, round, creamy, clean.
O: This is a fantastic beer and is one of my new favorites! While the first thing that comes to mind with Hop Stoopid is buckets of hops, I am left impressed with the perfect balance of flavors. Even my hop-o-phobic wife really liked this beer!!
