22 oz bomber picked up because guy behind counter saw I was getting a Hop Stoopid and recommended the Lucky 13
A - glowing amber/copper color, 1/2 finger head with decent lacing
S - pine, hops, grapefruit, kiwi
T - don't believe I have ever had a red ale with this much hops. caramel middle with a bitter finish. does not have a strong metallic taste as most reds taste to me but it still retains that "red" flavor.
M - medium mouthfeel with just the right amount of carbonation
O - very impressed by this mondo large red beer, only second beer ive had from lagunitas but im fast becoming a fan. will definitely drink again because its not expensive (4.99) and very good.

Poured from 22 oz bomber into a wine glass.
A - Orange copper color with about 1 finger of head, good lacing.
S - Strong caramel malts, mild tropical fruit hop notes, some alcohol.
T - To me this was a malt bomb. Extremely strong sweet caramel malts all the way through with a slight bitter hop finish.
M - Very thick and oily, medium carbonation.
O - A pleasant beer however it wasn't as hop forward as i thought it would be. Still very tasty and cheap.

A: pours a deep reddish orange with a finger of dense and rocky off white head that leaves excellent lacing as it fades to a small pool in a Duvel Tulip. I know it isn't the 'proper' glassware but let's face it, the beer is an off color DIPA
S: smells dank as all hell with some citrusy, piney and earthy notes
T: tastes of earthy hops, some pine and a bit of grapefruit with some caramel sweetness providing balance , some brown sugar, and slightly bready as well. swallow is big oily and bitter with a bit of residual sweetness and a slight toasty malt flavor
M: heavy side of medium in the mouth with somewhat prickly carbonation that helps mask the thickness of the beer, juicy hop finish
O: It's a big beautiful and hoppy red ale. it tastes good, is priced well and is very inoffensive and well made if you like hoppy beer. It's everything I'd expect from a lagunitas beer.

A - rich copper color with two fingers of head that laces the entire glass.
S - smells like a cross between an American strong ale and an IPA. Caramel, toasty malt, and some piney hops.
T/M - The taste is closer to that of a standard red ale with a bit of a malty/alcohol kick that follows. A little bit of fruitiness too.
O - It's hard to call this a malt bomb because it's so balanced. This is a really good beer. If you're like me and feel that most American strong ales are a bit of an unbalanced taste-bud assault, give this a try.

This has a great scent of grapefruit with a slightly sweet grapefruit flavor. It immediately formed a nice head that dissipated rather quickly leaving a clean moist lace on the glass.
Very good, though I expected more malt from a red beer. The hops was unexpected, but enjoyed. I love grapefruit!

I remember really liking this beer last year and was really excited to see it hit shelves again
Poured from a 22oz bomber into a pint glass
A: slightly cloudy deep amber color with half-finger of light khaki head that dissipates quickly to minor lacing.
S: amber malt sweetness, lots of hoppiness. Earthiness.
T: Not what I remembered. A quick punch from the carbonation and hops followed by an enormous malty backbone and hop bitterness that sticks around long after sipping. Not as much hop flavor as I remember, and simultaneously a little bit more bitterness early in the sip and lingering.
M: a very full body, smooth, with lots of carbonation and an oily sensation that lingers in the mouth that is really the only thing I'm not liking.
O: a little above average, and certainly not disappointing for its price, but not what I remembered it being from last year. This year it does seem to be much more the amber it advertises than the DIPA it seemed like in memory. Still tons of hop as the 77 IBUs can attest. Probably not seeking out more of this, but not unhappy to be drinking it.

Appearance - Pours a clear, bright reddish/orange amber with an off-white, 2 finger head. Excellent retention, resulting in a thick layer of microbubbles hogging up the entire surface. Strong lacing all around the glass with great stick.
Smell - Ruby red grapefruit, hints of tropical fruit, a touch of spice and faint bready malts.
Taste - Follows the nose. prominent ruby red sweetness, backed by a fair amount of
bready malts. Touches of pineapple. Faint traces of spice and tobacco.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, but with exceptional fluffiness, leaving this brew feeling significantly lighter than what actually is. Goes down smooth and easy.
Overall - Another Lagunitas beer, another sweet red grapefruit bomb. I realize this is their signature hop profile, and I do love it, but do we really need a dozen beers that all taste nearly identical? But hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it right? Nickelback and Linkin Park release the same formulated songs time and time again, and they're successful, right? Ahh, I digress. This is good, but if you've never had this before, don't expect much of a difference from their other releases.
