This has a great scent of grapefruit with a slightly sweet grapefruit flavor. It immediately formed a nice head that dissipated rather quickly leaving a clean moist lace on the glass.
Very good, though I expected more malt from a red beer. The hops was unexpected, but enjoyed. I love grapefruit!

I remember really liking this beer last year and was really excited to see it hit shelves again
Poured from a 22oz bomber into a pint glass
A: slightly cloudy deep amber color with half-finger of light khaki head that dissipates quickly to minor lacing.
S: amber malt sweetness, lots of hoppiness. Earthiness.
T: Not what I remembered. A quick punch from the carbonation and hops followed by an enormous malty backbone and hop bitterness that sticks around long after sipping. Not as much hop flavor as I remember, and simultaneously a little bit more bitterness early in the sip and lingering.
M: a very full body, smooth, with lots of carbonation and an oily sensation that lingers in the mouth that is really the only thing I'm not liking.
O: a little above average, and certainly not disappointing for its price, but not what I remembered it being from last year. This year it does seem to be much more the amber it advertises than the DIPA it seemed like in memory. Still tons of hop as the 77 IBUs can attest. Probably not seeking out more of this, but not unhappy to be drinking it.

Appearance - Pours a clear, bright reddish/orange amber with an off-white, 2 finger head. Excellent retention, resulting in a thick layer of microbubbles hogging up the entire surface. Strong lacing all around the glass with great stick.
Smell - Ruby red grapefruit, hints of tropical fruit, a touch of spice and faint bready malts.
Taste - Follows the nose. prominent ruby red sweetness, backed by a fair amount of
bready malts. Touches of pineapple. Faint traces of spice and tobacco.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, but with exceptional fluffiness, leaving this brew feeling significantly lighter than what actually is. Goes down smooth and easy.
Overall - Another Lagunitas beer, another sweet red grapefruit bomb. I realize this is their signature hop profile, and I do love it, but do we really need a dozen beers that all taste nearly identical? But hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it right? Nickelback and Linkin Park release the same formulated songs time and time again, and they're successful, right? Ahh, I digress. This is good, but if you've never had this before, don't expect much of a difference from their other releases.

clear, deep, reddish copper. big, beautiful thick head leaves rings around the glass, dies down to a quarter inch or less, but makes a good effort at hanging around. sweet malty smell with hops to balance it. there's a tiny bit of - not sure of the right word. astringency? - but, really, it's minor . has that wonderful characteristic lagunitas flavor in the background. thick, yummy, hard to not go thru this fast. sweet up front, lingers a bit, and finishes perfectly with a bit of hops saying hello at the end. others have said this would be a great intro brew to show friends better beer, and i agree; very easy drinking, very approachable. i think this would be great with steak.
it's been awhile since i've had a lagunitas, and it's very nice to reacquaint myself with lucky 13.

A: Pours a very clear, dark copper color, with a big 2 to 2.5 fingers of very fine, creamy beige head. The head has very good retention (which I suspect is due to the size of the bubbles) and leaves great lacing.
S: Very malty. Some green, citrusy fruits in there too, but mostly dominated by bready malts.
T: Not too far off how it smells. Pretty mild citrus start, followed by thick bready malts that taste mildly roasted, and finishes with a moderate hops that are well balanced (77 IBUs; my taste buds may be blown out.)
M: Pretty good body on her; a little bit bigger and thicker than others, but what should you expect from Lagunitas. As with all their beers, carbonation is great. Not boozy at all at 8.65% abv, which is always a sign of a quality brew.
O: A very nice red. As an IPA fan, I think I prefer this to their Censored copper ale, as it has a bit more hop bitterness in the finish. Enjoyable in its own right, but also might be a good beer to introduce someone into greater hops of an IPA.

A- Amber red to tan.
S- Piney, Slight grapefruit aroma, caramel, and sweet honey smell.
T- Sweet and matly with a slight bitter finish.
M- Med to med heavy. Hoppy finish.
O- 6/10 Nothing special from Lagunitas. It's like drinking another one of their session beers. It's always a poor level of balance from these brewers. I'm not impressed. I sure will be buying these 22s because I get them for 3.99, but it is only because I enjoy their style of beer. Lucky 13 may only be for the beer advocates but it sure doesn't live up to the BJCP style guidelines.
