A: Clear and pale. Like a good IPA should be. Small white head, with good lacing.
S: Light hop smells. Almost more of a noble smell than American hops. Earthy.
T: Here the hops taste more American. Citrusy with some sweetness. Very smooth for the ABV. Smooth mouth feel.
D: I imagine the ABV would catch up with you sooner or later. Better IPA's out there, but I'm sure I'll be helping my local beer store clear the inventory.
Always a fan of Lagunitas. Their beers are always consistently good. Maybe nothing that really stands out, but always good.

I enjoyed this beer from the comfort of my own living room. From the 220z bottle to a standard pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy/murky dark yellow to orange color with a billowy white head that stuck around for some time. Still billowing out as I poured the 2nd half of the bottle into my glass.
Smell: Fruity smell out of the bottle. From the glass, more grass-like earthy hops, grapefruit with a hint of maltiness.
Taste: Very well balanced, but understated hops.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied and sticky.
Drinkability: Very drinkable brew. It is unfortunate this will not be made again. Held up very well considering this has not been brewed for some time and I picked it up almost 2 months ago. Would like to have again some day.

A 22 ounce bomber bottle shared with psycohops and brothercannon. Poured into a trio of shaker glasses, this ale appears a hazed golden yellow color with around an inch of dense ecru foam. The head leaves minimal lacing on the glass. Smells and tastes of bitter piney hops, fruity and grassy, followed by a decent amount of sweet grain and malt to pull it all together. This IPA was medium bodied and amply carbonated for the style. Glad I had the chance to try and share this one.

Pours clear gold-orange with a decent white head. Moderate lacing. Aroma is pine hops with some fresh oranges. The taste is very crisp; peppery hops, resin, grass, and only a bit of the standard Lagunitas sugary sweet malts. Kind of soapy/dishwatery with the blend. Good, tart hop flavor, but without the bite. Enjoyable, but I really expected more.

Aged about a year in my basement, found at Belmont Part Supply, Dayton. Smells like an IPA and initially quite hoppy, with a finish of palm/coconut oil. Drinkable, but the coconut oiliness is not my favorite. Medium bodied. Golden yellow with loyal bubbly almost transparent head.

Appearance: Pours a clear light amber color with a rocky ecru head that sticks nicely and leaves a few shards around the pint glass
Smell: Apricots and pine, with a biscuity element underneath
Taste: Opens rather sweet, with a nice biscuity flavor that is quickly joined and then pounded by apricot and pine elements from the hop bill; after the swallow, the malt pushes everything back into balance
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Drinkability: I forgot I had this one in my cellar and I was nervous when I opened it, but it has aged nicely; not nearly as hoppy as it was in its youth, but the flavors come together in much better fashion than the other beers in the Zappa tribute series

A : Pours a nice orange golden color with a white head which left some great lacing behind.
S : Had a subdued citrus hops smell. There was a little bit of malts to the smell but not much
T : Pretty much the same as the smell. A good balance of citrus hops and malt with the hops winning.
M : Medium bodied, good carbonation
D : This one went down real easily and I wish they would release it again.

A: Poured a rusty pale golden color with some haziness and a off white fluffy head.
S: There was a nice floral hoppiness and citrusy nature on the nose with some pine and a slight malt sweetness.
T: malty and dry, with oranges, and a dry floral hopping of citrus and pine. Dry caramel with a nice dry hopped finish of citrus coats the tongue after the swallow with a nice film lacing and remembrance.
M: The mouthful had a medium fullness, and was bitter, and dry.
D: Fairly good drinkability thought nothing new, typical lagunitas hop profile.

22oz. bomber into imperial pint glass
A - Poured a clear amber/orange body with mammoth two-finger milky white, bubbly head that left amazing thick lacing all over the glass. Plenty of swirling bubbles of carbonation present. Pretty solid head retention.
S - Subdued citrus hop aroma, probably due to the age of the beer. Some flowery hops as well, but the hop profile is predominantly citrus fruit. Sweet caramel malt aspect is also present, along with some hefty bready malt goodness.
T - Floral hops creep out a bit more in the flavor, but the citrus fruit is still present, with lemon and grapefruit weighing in to provide a pleasant hop profile. Bitterness is balanced by plenty of sweet caramel malt, but the finish is still moderately bitter. Some mild toasted malts appear as the liquid warmed up a bit.
M - Creamy texture with a bit of sticky, oily residue on the palate. Moderate hop bite with a fairly long, bitter finish.
D - This one still holds up relatively well, considering its age. I would have liked to have tried this one when it was released. Very nice, creamy mouthfeel and still a pretty aggressive hoppiness. But I guess just like Zappa's music, this brew ages well.

650 ml bottle, label as in picture.
Orange and gold color, slightly cloudy a thick, solid head, nice retention. Thin sticky lacing.
Solid hop aromas, citrus, pink grapefruit, very nice. Lots of hop flavor, but not alot of maltiness to keep in balance. Citrus, some pine, bitter aftertaste. Good carbonation, decent mouthfeel. Pretty good all around, just not quite enough to make it great. Hopefully we get more Lagunitas seasonals to compare against.

I am laughing/ chuckling to myself because this is a retired beer...yet I found it at a truck stop beer store east of where I live.
Appearance wise...oh babt...looks like a gooder...hazy/cloudy aprocot in color with a thick, almost sticky looking head that had excellent retention. Lacing was like Elmer's glue on the sides of the glass.
Ok...aroma wise...average..sweet and slightly citrus/grapefuit..
very, very sweet tasting...as if they put a tad too much sugar in the mix. not much of a malt backbone and the citrus hop blast was very muted.
Can't fault them on mouthfeel...carbonation was bang on and felt full to me
for the style...a bit too sweet and a bit too lacking on the major components needed to run with the big boys...

22oz. bottle
Hazy, dull gold color. Medium sized, light tan head. Quite creamy, with decent lacing present as I drank.
Aroma was Pine-Sol! Not quite, but there is a lot of tree in this bottle. I also picked up alcohol, peaches and grass.
Taste was pine, but it didn't live up to the scent. Nice, biscuity middle. Some alcohol. Pretty well balanced.
Medium + in body. Medium + in carbonation. Quite dry.
Middle of the pack IPA. Scent seems to promise more than taste delivers. I prefer Kill Ugly Radio, Maximus and Hop Stoopid. Probably not a fair comparison since those are all doubles, but that's where I would go if I wanted some hops from Lagunitas.
