Very roasty with a bold roast coffee smell with some herbal citrus smells underneath it all. Very very smooth with sweet stout malts up front evolving into a bitter coffee taste and herbal bitterness from the hops melding together perfectly.

This is a pretty bitter beer and the sweetness only rolls over for a short while. The alcohol taste is non existent and is extremely drinkable. The coffee really comes out as the beer warms a bit as does the bitterness of the beer.

This is definitely one of the best coffee beers I've had. It definitely has a sedating but uplifting buzz to it from the coffee they inject into the beer. It tastes like a bold coffee but still like a beer because of the hoppy bitterness.... a fantastic beer.

Poured from 22 oz bottle into tulip glass.

A: Poured dark brown that settled to almost black in the glass. Nice frothy two finger tan head with some lacing.

S: Coffee and chocolate very apparent. Some roasted malts, caramel, and maybe a hint of vanilla.

T: Again the coffee is fairly prominent. Chocolates are also big leaning towards milk chocolate or cake like flavors. A bit of caramel and nice roasted flavors you would expect with coffee stout.

M: Medium body with fair carbonation. I might have preferred a bit thicker and fuller, but it is easy drinking. So much so, that the ABV can sneak upon you.

O: Very nice coffee stout. I might prefer Founders Breakfast Stout, or Espresso Yeti a bit more, but this one is an enjoyable brew!
