It appears a jet black tone. The head disappears quickly, low carbonation levels. The smell consists of nutty raisins with a touch of chocolate. The taste reveals a syrup like texture with lots of dark fruit and some hop flavor to follow. The body is medium, but not syrupy. I'd say this is a solid imperial stout, but nothing spectacular.

Had this from a firkin during Mad Craft Beer Week, at a great new Madison beer bar called Side Door Grill and Tap.
Surprisingly lackluster appearance, with even less luster in the aroma. Is that the real ale element?
Wonderful coffee and roasty flavors though. Molasses sweetness, maybe some bubblegum, and hard to identify yeasty funk that could be cork or some other pleasing wood.
Absolutely the creamiest feeling in the mouth of any Imperial Stout I've ever had.

A - Dark body, becoming dark red along outer edges. Meager head quickly settled to nearly nothing, leaving next to no lacing.
S - Soft but thick, chocolate, toffee, some star anise. Fudgy, appealing, but some alcohol right on the end cuts the pleasantries short. Reminds you of what you're about to come up against Otherwise, pretty nice and inviting.
T - First of all, for being 9.9% brew the alcohol flavor is really well mitigated. Rich, chocolatey, bready with some coffee too. Skirts the edge of a medicine flavor and pulls back just in time.
M - Pretty thick, reminiscent of the consistency of Hersey's syrup. Clings to all areas of the mouth, but pleasantly so.
O - Likely best enjoyed with some vanilla ice cream or cookies, this is no session beer and it will dominate your palate. This is a good thing though. On the whole, I'd say it's a very solid and enjoyable beer.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter.
Color is dark brown while pouring and pitch black inside the glass. About a finger thick head of slightly shining brown color. Decent head retention. Good lacing on the sides. Opaque.
Aroma is of strong booze. A lot of heavy and dark roasted malts. Strong malt and warmth. Alcohol take this beer over and is a bit disgusting and two dimensional. Strength is good to strong.
Taste is of naked roasted malts. Dark and heavily burnt up charred character. Hops are absent. Bitterness is mainly due to burnt up malts. Huge on warmth. Boozy all around. No balance. Very very warm beer. Drink strictly in chilling winters. Difficult to finish a bomber by self, even when I like boozy and strong beers. Finish is semi-sweet.
Mouth feel is full bodied. A lot of body and thickness makes it a very robust brew. Highly astringent in terms of alcohol and charred character.
