!2oz bottle poured into a snifter...

A: Pours a translucent orange/dark gold with one full finger of pure white head. The foam is frothy of tiny bubbles and it settles quickly along the edges of the glass. There is some lacing as it drinks, but nothing crazy.

S: The nose is sweet of malt and cracked wheat. I also get a good amount of banana esters.I don't get much clove spice, whih I would expect from a tripel.

T: This beer starts out with malty sweetness and banana notes. I also get some other fruity flavors like prunes and dates. There is a spiciness that presents itself after it hits the palate, but it seems more because of the carbonation than than the clove notes from the yeast. As it transitions to the middle of the beer, the prunes and bananas shine. The beer begins to tighten up in the back end with some yeast.

M: Medium bodied beer. Sweet, sticky, and syrupy to start. It coats the palate right off the bat. The carbonation catches the tongue and makes it prickly for a moment. Sticky all the way through the end of the beer, and the flavors linger on the palate for quite a bit after the beer is gone.

O: This is a good beer, and a good tripel. I prefer my triples with more spice and a little lighter mouthfeel, but this is good. I'd drink this beer again, but I don't think I'd be buying it regularly.

I couldn't resist. Save for molson golden.. This is my first foray into Canadian beer.

A- hazy beach sand... Very pretty and elegant looking
S- clove, cardamom, cinnamon, cotton candy!
T-hints of bitter birch, more clove business, Indian food or Thai is calling!
M- sharp and sprightly
O- my Interest is peaked... Fun and interesting...high brow and balanced.. An achievement!!

This beer has been growing on me. My girlfriend loves it, and the first time I had it I literally almost threw up, I thought it was way too yeasty and sweet.
But the more sips I have taken throughout a few years, the more it grows on me.

It smells amazing, and the taste would be perfect if it was just a little less sweet. Basically that's why I love Tripel Karmeliet - it's like a slightly less sweet and yeasty Fin Du Monde. Maybe one day I'll drink a whole glass and enjoy it.

12oz twist off bottle. Best before 3-14-15. Served in an oversized wine glass.

Appearance: Light orange in color. Reminds me of peach or apricot. 2 fingers of a slightly off white head dissipated to a thin film coating and collar. Very hazy in the glass with plenty of visible carbonation

Smell: I'm getting a huge blast of fruity esters to start with (peach and apricot specifically). Followed by Belgian yeast spice, clove, slightly medicinal, pear.

Taste: Spicy/powdery yeast, clove, orange, peach/apricot, pear and apple. Nice balance between the juicy, fruit flavors and dry, powdery yeast.

Mouthfeel: Medium/Full bodied with a slick oily mouthfeel. Carbonation is through the roof. Alcohol is hidden well though.

Overall: I honestly don't get what all the fuss is about for this one. It's a good tripel, easily available, and I'd get it again, but it's hardly the best of the style.

I dispense with my ordinary long disclaimer, discussion of methodology, preamble, and anecdote.

This beer is undrinkable. It tastes like a tarted-up wheat beer or Blue Moon. I hate wheat beer. I can't judge this according to style - sorry. I had one sip and almost spit it up. I had high expectations for this beer, and was severely disappointed. I'd rather have ten Bud Lights topped off with a Pabst than a single shot of this crap all eight days of the seven-day week.

Avoid like the plague.

I've had numerous tripels, but this is the best overall in my experience.

It looks positively beautiful pouring out of the bottle, with the perfect lingering head that lasts for several minutes and leaves charmingly asthetic traces for up to 30 minutes, or so.

It smells wonderful. It's like an eclectic mix of the seasons that can be enjoyed year round.

There is a certain smooth thickness to it in the mouth. It is less viscous than other beers, but if you aren't calorie counting it is an amazing feeling.

The highlight of this beer is the taste. I don't think I've ever tasted a better tripel in my life. A variety of spices and fruits blend together smoothly in a pleasing manner that reminds me of cool fall afternoons in New England. It is completely unique and it must be tasted to be understood.

Appearance: A beautiful golden semi opaque body with ample carbonation and a solid amount of lacing and lace retention, which excuses the pinkie finger of head the pour produced.

Smell: Fruity yeast dominates the nose which touches of biscuit malt and herbal hops with a peppery cloves and slight mineral undertone. Warming didn't really help it's case and while it's nice, a little more strength is needed here.

Taste: Wow, most Tripel's I've noticed require ample warming, but this one, well it seems that my fellow Canadians knew the norm for drinking beer in Canada. A flood of fruity yeast, apricots, pears, apples, clementines, honey, all accented but a beautiful blend of peppery cloves and herbal hopping. It doesn't transition, so much as it euphoniously blends.

Mouthfeel: As I stated, the transitioning is beyond anything I could ever hope for, and the carbonation is exceptionally well done. There is a slight alcohol dryness to it, that takes a little bit away from the fruity biscuit aftertaste and wouldn't think a 9% would have, but all in all, very few complaints.

Drinkability: This stuff is exceptionally dangerous given it's ABV. It's goes down smooth, sits down well, doesn't cause any gas issues, light bodied and could easily get me drunker then a skunk in a couple bottles.

Final Thoughts: As of the writing of this review, we have a new champion as La Fin Du Monde has unseated Peche Mortel & Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier as my highest ranked beer. Unibroue has shown me the folly of not partaking in more of their beers.

Pours a hazy golden apricot with a frothy half inch ivory head that slowly dissipates, leaving sheets of lacing.

Fruity esters leap from the glass, with tangerine, lemon, peach and pear complementing confectioners sugar sweetness. There's a yeast funk that adds intrigue to lightly bready malt. Perfumey floral hop notes tie everything together. Metallic notes emerge as it warms.

Flavor reveals sharp peach notes underlying toasted, bready malt at the backbone. Pear , apricot, and tangerine emerge, along with a bit of yeast mustiness, leading to a slightly peppery, dry finish. The fruity notes are mouth watering, but stop short.

Body is moderate, with fairly high carbonation. Alcohol warmth is slight.

Very fruity, estery beer. Powerful flavors, but they're kept from being overwhelming by the bready malt and fairly dry finish. Sweetness balances well. Would've actually preferred the flavor to linger a bit.

Bought a 4 pk of bottles from Wegmans Holt Rd on 3/23/13. price $ 10.99.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a St Bernardus chalice, served around 50 f.

appearance: hazy lemon yellow with a 1 finger sugar white head. not much lacing.

aroma: sugar cookies with lemon glaze.

mouthfeel: full, solid but a little lifeless.

taste: crystal malt with lemon zest that provides the flavor and the bitterness.

notes: Mt first Unibroue bottle and I must say I am a little disappointed. Simple taste, not bad but lacking complexity of some Tripels.

La Fin Du Monde was recommended to me by a respected beer loving friend after he heard how much I like Chimay (Blue and White labels - Grand Cru and Cinq Cents). I have to say that La Fin Du Monde is right there with Chimay white label. It truly has become my go to beer. We had a party at the house on the eve of the eve (of New Years) and I bought a wide selection of craft and high gravity beer. Chimay was on the menu as well as Sue from Yazoo, an IPA from Schafly, Brookyn, and others. La Fin Du Monde was by far the overall favorite. I have also found that it has a rare ability to appeal to women that appreciate good beer as well as appealing to men. That may be because you don't taste the alcohol like some high grav beers I am familiar with. That could be a good or bad thing depending on how familiar one is with high grav beer and how many you have!

If you are in Nashville sometime, La Fin is on draft at The Pharmacy in East Nashville. They have a number of other fine beers on draft, of course, along with a terrific beer garden out back to serve great brats, burgers, etc. You can find it by the bottle in most places that serve high gravity beers, including the Flying Saucer. The Saucer, by the way, also has Chimay on tap just in case you want to do a taste test between the two.

A: pored a beautiful golden yellow almoast orange with a light head and almoast no laceing,nice fog to it almoast looks like a wit beer

S:smell of moscato grapes,apricots,grass,and a little citruss peel

T: realy smooth for 9% taste of sweet fruits like grapes and apricots.verry crisp from the amount of carbonation

M: very crisp and refreshing

O:this is a verry good tripple MUST SIP THIS BEER OR YOU WILL GET SMASHED!!! This beer is so damn smooth almoast can't taste the alc this is my first unibroue and I love them so far

A year and a half old bottle with a BB date of 03-30-13 although Unibroue advises this beer to be at its best after 3 years.
A-Poured into a chalice this brew yields a thick finger of small bubbled white foam that is fairly weak with no lacing on the glass , lots of effervescence-blonde with a golden hue with just a slight haze.
S-At about 40 F, strong aromas of clover and floral honey and spicy phenols jump out. Clean malt nose.
T-Nice layers of complexity, starting with estery yeast with fruity sweet orange character, carried with a clean heavy barley malt bill gives into spicy phenols, providing a long finish with a pleasant alcohol warming. As the beer warms, the sweet honey character becomes more prominent
M-Mouthfeel has high levels of carbonation, rich bodied with a warming finish.
O-A very robust and tasty brew indeed.

12 oz. bottle poured into a Orval chalice.

This famed Tripel pours a hazy dark yellow, bordering on gold. It is topped by a quickly dissipating head of soapy bubbles that fade to an outer ring and leave stringy lace down the glass. Streams of carbonation come from the bottom of the glass. While no head retention to speak of, at least the beer has good color... plus serving it in a chalice looks really nice.

La Fin Du Monde's aroma is absolutely wonderful. Unibroe's famed yeast strain is front and center, giving off scents of clove (and other spices), some banana, and just touch of "funk." There is a bready malt support to all of this, but the most notable aromas are that of banana and apple, potentially with some citrus in the background. A fantastic smelling beer.

The front of the palate is hit with some spicy notes, and coriander and clove specifically come to mind. Following that, a bright fruity sweetness kicks in, with flavors of orange, banana, and green apple, with just a little tartness and sourness underneath. This complex Tripel finishes on a note of residual bready sweetness and some dryness. Beautifully complex and sweet beer.

For such a big beer, the alcohol is very well-hidden, almost dangerously so. While this doesn't drink like a big beer, it will creep up on you. The effervescent and dry body is refreshing to the palate, and the sweetness of the flavor enhances this. The mouthfeel is a little chalky toward the bottom of the glass (due to yeast), but it maintains it pleasant nature throughout.

This is definitely a complex beer, and I'm glad I tried it. It is not for beginners by any means, but it is a must-have for any beer drinker. My introduction to the Tripel style, and certainly not my last.

T: Taste followed the nose but also had a great level of spice and malt. The alcohol is hardly detectable

A- The beer shows a beautiful clear golden color with a fantastic soft white foam that pleases the eye and foreshadows what is to come.

S- La Fin smells sweet and light with a pronounced fruity crisp that pleases the nose.

T- The beer gently tantalized the tongue with a tangy fruity flavor followed by a medium blast of hops finished with a refreshing banana note.

M-The beer massages the tongue with excellent carbonation while leaving the mouth with a clean feeling reminding me of an excellent apple. The finish pleasantly lingers.

O-La Fin Du Monde is an excellent fruit flavored beer that pleases the eye, nose, tongue and mouth with every ounce. This beer is definitely on my summer beer list and should be on yours.

I had a chance to try this on accident. After eating dinner out at a french restaurant my party and I ended up at the bar talking with the owner. I expressed my fondness for beer as he had 4 bottles in front of him. He was trying new beers for his beer list - although this beer is from Quebec - I think the French name was more important.

I found the beer to have a crisp sensation, the flavor was earthy and only mildly sweet, while there was malt flavor I would not have pegged the ABV at 9% . I found the finish of the beer to leave only a subtle bite from the hops. I don't consider my ability to separate traditional flavor accents very good so I will leave it at that.

Overall, this is a beer I would drink alone or with a meal in a heart beat. I will likely pick some up next opportunity I have and were I to see it out a restaurant, I'd pay decently for it.

I ended up recommending this beer strongly to owner, especially given the traditional french menu. Anything that you would pair a hearty red wine to you could probably pair this to as well.

Champagne corked 750ml bottle into chilled standard pint. I must say, I am excited to try this beer.

A: hazy golden color with copious bubbles rising to the top to keep the pillowy soft foam head that refuses to fall. 1/3 of an inch of offwhite froth that just sits and looks back at me without end. Beautiful!

S: spicy hops, sweet juicy fruit esters, the slight astringent funk-twang of Belgian yeast. hints of apple peel and clove. Reminds me of Duvel, excellent.

T: big time clove taste, sweet juicy apple with a bit of peel tannin, pale malt body, some of the medicinal taste from the spices and the Belgian yeast. Opens a little sweet but the bulk or the flavor is perfectly balanced. Finishes off with a lingering noble hop flavor that is perfectly light and gives this beer a great finish.

M: right down the middle medium body. Not too thin so it feels insubstantial but not so heavy that it is taxing to drink.

O: worth the 3 months it took to get my hands on a bottle. Phenomenal tripple, I could sip this all freaking day. Words fail. By the way, that never-ending head is still there after like 10 minutes. I know a tripple and a strong are different but I would say that this is on par with Duvel but a little sweeter for when I am in a semi-dry mood rather than a dry mood.

A- Turbid light orange with a 1 finger lively head which quickly dissipates. Persistent carbonation with no lacing.

S- Apricot and yeast notes. Very fresh aroma.

T- Very smooth malt taste, with good spice from the Belgian yeast. Then get a sweetness that goes with the lighter fruit presence. Finishes with a nice alcohol flavor.

M- Carbonated and wonderful. Goes down so smooth. No alcohol bite.

Overall this is one of my favorite beers. Really enjoy the complex flavors and smooth finish.

maybe it's because ive never had a tripel before, but this was a serious let down for the money. people go on and on about bananas and cloves and this and that... all i got was the impression that a heavy ale had sex with an underdone mead and this was the result. there was a slight fruitiness that was quickly overtaken by a hot alcoholy quality. it was more like drinking medicine than beer. i wont be trying this one again.

S: yeast, fresh baked bread, biscuit, slight coriander, banana, vanilla

T: slightly acidic sweet and sour, flavors of strawberry, orange, mango, biscuit, like a liquefied fruit scone, amazing

M: rich creamy and oily, lively carbonation, alcohol well hidden

O: I'm confused because this has a screw top and is made in Canada. This however isn't hockey swill. Every bit as good as Tripels from Belgium.

Absolutely one of my favorite beers!! honestly can go good with anything, but you are better off enjoying this beer by itself. it has so much too offer, such great combination between the yeast and malt's making this an outstanding brew. you can put this on my list of top beers.

750ml corked and caged bottle. Most recent vintage into a Westvleteren chalice. Shared with schen9303.

Pours a .5 finger coarse white head with poor retention. Beer is a clear goldenrod. Lacing is non-existent. Thin legs. Pretty average.

Nose is clove, Belgian yeast, pepper, pineapple and cane sugar. Very sweet and aromatic. Appetizing!

Opens coriander and other Belgian spices. Banana with peppercorn, clove and Belgian yeast in the middle. Sweet cane sugar towards the end with more clove and yeastiness. Finishes sweet with a foamy, accented aftertaste that lingers. Really fits the style.

Medium bodied with ample carbonation. Prickly and lively in the mouth and abrasive and crisp going down. Finishes messy with a slightly lingering finish. Crisp and complex. Nice.

Not the best of the style but definitely a complex and enjoyable brew that I wouldn't hesitate to revisit. Nice body with a signature Unibroue flavor profile. Worth trying.

It pours a hazy orange with a white head. There are a lot of bubbles rising to the top of the glass. Head retention is good with decent lacing. it smells of yeast and fruit. Apples, grapes, peaches, and I think it smells a bit like coconut as well. It's like a huge fruit bowl condensed into one 12 oz bottle. The taste it a bit sour and the fruit flavors transfer over well from the aroma. I don't detect much hops, and there is hardly any bitterness. It's medium bodied on the palate. The carbonation is very high, but it works with the tart flavors to produce a surprisingly refreshing feeling. Try it if you haven't already.

Poured into matching Tulip glass from 12oz bottle

A- Pours a hazy yellow with a 1 finger lively head that sticks around but doesn't have much lacing. Lots of tiny bubbles.

T- Very smooth malt backbone, with lots of spices from the Belgian yeast. Then get a sweetness that goes with the lighter fruit presence. Finishes with a nice alcohol tinge, not to strong though

M- Carbonated and wonderful. Goes down so smooth. No alcohol bite.

Overall this is one of my favorite beers, in my favorite style. They do a great job with this one getting all sorts of flavors but leaving out the alcohol bite that are in some tripels.

Bought a bottle from Safeway. Had wanted to try for sometime now. Aromas are tart. I thought I picked up a bit of a tart cherry scent. Yeasty notes also. Beautiful looking pale gold, very hazy. Head so white it might be neon, lingers then recedes to tiny bubbles. Slightly tart taste, pear maybe. Has a bit of clove spiciness too. Very carbonated with a very dry finish. Overall, very good offering. Nice warming effect yet refreshing at the same time.
