750ml bottle decanted into pitcher and served in unibroue tulip glass.

Pours a beautiful clear orange colour. Long lasting, pillowy soft white head that eventually recedes to 1/4". Amazing carbonation, a sight to behold in the glass. Not much for lacing.

Aroma is fruity. I'm relatively new to Belgians, but it smells exactly like my homemade Saison I brewed this summer. I don't detect any spice aroma, just fruit, but damn good fruit!

The first sip is an EXPLOSION! My brain can't process it all. Fruit and spice up front, soft and creamy in the middle, sweet like honey towards the finish. Then you swallow and a warm cozy alcohol feel slowly works it way up to the back of your throat. WOW!!!

Mouthfeel is incredible. Starts out with carbonated prickliness, then finishes almost sticky (which probably helps me think of honey in the flavour). The pallette does clear quickly (easy to digest as they say), which has you quickly reaching for another sip (unlike a heavy barleywine which lingers for some time).

Drinkability is outstanding, though it really should be drank with some restraint. I'm half way through my first glass, and I'm already feeling it. I WANT MORE!

This is only my second pale belgian strong (the other being Duvel, which I enjoyed), but this is first rate.

Serving Type - 341ml bottle poured into tulip glass.

Appearance - Pours a cloudy, deep yellow-golden colour. Almost verging on orange. A good three fingers of fluffy white head float on top, and dissipate at a medium rate.

Smell - A truly astounding and complex aroma. I'm sure I'm in over my head here, but here it goes: Light orange peel, coriander, heavy spices (specifically what I can't say exactly) and a good dose of booze.

Taste - Alcohol up front, wich gets even more intense as the beer warms. This is followed by some hints of citrus, mostly bits of orange. A heavy spice flavour is present from start to finish. Other reviewers have pointed out a heavy yeast flavour which I wouldn't have picked up on otherwise, but which is definitely there, in a big way.

Mouthfeel - Heavy carbonation leaves for a crisp, bordering on sharp finish. Mouthfeel is dangerously light, almost fluffy. The beer seems to glide on the tongue.

Overall - 4.5/5
