La Fin Du Monde
Unibroue
La Fin du Monde was developed through 18 months of research on a unique strain of yeast originating from Europe. It is brewed in honor of the intrepid European explorers who believed they had reached the “end of the world” when they discovered North America ‘the new world’. This triple-style golden ale recreates the style of beer originally developed in the Middle Ages by trappist monks for special occasions and as such it was the first of its kind to be brewed in North America.

Pour into a chalice, has an opaque golden yellow color with a short but sustainable bone white head.
The aroma is really interesting - tons of melon and banana along with a ton of sweetness. Digging deeper there is some pepper and clove to be found as well.
Due to the aroma I was at first thinking that this beer is extremely sweet. And while it certainly seems sweeter than the average tripel, overall the flavor is much more balanced. There are some nice doughy bread notes and honeydew in the flavor.
Nice full body, and the abv hides well enough under the complexities of the flavor and aroma. Clean finish.
Overall this is a beer worthy of its praise... I know several BMC drinkers that claim this to be their favorite beer, and whom buy this for parties despite never considering any other craft options.
For myself, tripel has never been a style I got very excited about. I'd be happy drinking this at any party, but for my own buck, I'd just as readily spend it on some of the Trappist examples instead.

Picked a can of this up from downtown grocery in Wausau, WI before heading home today. I was instantly drawn to the beautiful color of this can. The smell is really pleasant, but the taste really threw my off at first. To me, it initially tasted like green olives, but as I got used to it, it tasted more like a hefeweizen. Overall a really good, hard hitting beer that will sneak up on you.

Pours a bright orange - gold with lot of head and lacing, be ready with that glass! Tastes like funk (horse blanket), banana, clove, a little pepper, spicy, dry. Not quite as good as Westmalle but it’s a very good beer and the price is right, cheers!
