This is my go to bottle shop right now. This place is really nice and always has someone friendly and knowledgeable behind the counter. The prices are not too bad either and they have 4 tap handles that they update from time to time so you can have a pint while you browse or just hang out. There are usually other beer lovers slowly walking around sipping delicious craft brews as well so plenty to talk about and plenty of beer recommendations.
Definitely a great store to get a bottle or two if you are in Gainesville.

This by far the best place to buy beer in Gainesville. The staff are very friendly and store itself has a very welcoming, pleasant atmosphere. I've on more than one occasion spent over thirty minutes walking around examining the beer and never felt like I was over staying my welcome. The selection of beer is the best Gainesville, but that isn't saying much. I'm not sure how distribution works in this area of Florida, but a couple of the store will frequently have beers that others don't. So if you don't find it here it may be at one of the other places in town. Overall it's definitely worthy of your time if you're near by.

In the past year Tipple's has really grown into a top-notch beer shop. Their inventory has grown including the addition of rarities such as De Dolle, Brasserie Des Rocs, Rochefort, Nogne, Baladin, and more. Cale is the beer guy and he is very knowledgeable, and can make suggestions for the beer novice or expert. Most of the beers have labels with descriptions and BA and RB ratings, which is helpful.
Pricing is in line with the better stores in the area including Ward's and Gator Beverage. Tipple's also has great beer tastings every couple months hosted by the living legend Dave Perez. Two rotating taps in the store provide refreshment for thirsty customers, and it's usually great beer on tap. Hopefully they continue to get great beers in stock, and maybe put some beer on sale for the poor college students!

I've been buying my beer and wine at Tipples Brews exclusively for some time now. I go back because they have a great selection of both beer and wine (as well as a smaller cheese/cigar/hotsauce/gourmet chocolate lines as well) in addition to their stellar customer service.
The coolers are pretty evenly split between American craft beer and European imports, though they have selections from other regions too (Africa, Canada, Australia, New Zealand & Japan come to mind). They have the mainstay craft beers on their shelves, but they're always on the lookout for new craft beer and go to great lengths to secure seasonal and rare releases. With something like 500+ beers to choose from, the 4 draft taps with local beer (Swamphead & Cigar City are most frequently poured), you have something to do while you shop. From time to time they offer a free pint on draft for customers while they shop.
As far as wine goes, I can't remember buying something here that my wife didn't enjoy. They rotate their selection to include wines with solid ratings, and usually have a bottle or two open for samples. They have wines from the big regions that you'd expect, but also some boutique wines as well.
Matt & Cale are both experts in the wine/beer worlds. They're happy to make recommendations and selections and they'll order exactly what you ask for. Beer might be more challenging due to the three tiered distribution system, but they'll do what they can.
Their prices are reasonable - you can get a great mixed 6 selection for under $10! Often their prices are more competitive than the local supermarkets (although they don;t stock much of the same selection in beer, and if a wine is sold in a supermarket, you can almost guarantee that you won't find it in Tipples unless you ask for it). Most of their beer is available for sale in singles as well as six packs. They have a vast selection of bombers at room temperature. They have other merchandise as well - glassware and some t-shirts. If they're given promotional material, they willingly and happily distribute!
I don't think I'll buy my beer or wine at any other store in Gainesville as long as I live here and as long as they remain open. I'm a huge advocate of supporting local small businesses and if you're looking for a place with a great atmosphere, then Tipples is the place for you.

I love tipples. It is my favorite place in Gainesville to buy beer. The selection is great, the workers are very helpful and knowledgeable. They also have a nice selection of wine, and you have got to love new beers on draft every week that you can enjoy in the store while you shop. I also enjoy all the glassware you can purchase at this store. Tipples was the first place i purchased a beer when i turned twenty one and i will keep coming back as long as i am in Gainesville. For me this place will always be apart of my college experience. Truly a great place for beer lovers

Tipple's is a good liquor store overall, and a great liquor store for Gainesville. Atmosphere is nice, with an organized setup and incandescent lighting. The service is fine depending on when you're there. I was there during an event and just wanted to purchase beer, but it took a while. The selection is excellent for Gainesville, and they order beers that you can't get anywhere else around that area.
The only reason it's not rated better is because it doesn't have the large warehouse capability of places in Chicago (Binny's) and Denver (Tipsy's). I'm sure Tipples doesn't move enough stock to justify having more space or more selection, but it has improved even in the short time I've been there.
The best part is certainly the atmosphere and the fact that you can get some great beers on tap.

Best beer selection in Gainesville hands down. Only questionable thing I have on Tipple's is the service and people who work there. Very quiet staff and seems like most of the workers dont know about many of the beers.
I have found several great beers here and will continue to go back on a regular basis. They are always improving their selection and stock. I can find something new everytime go in. They even were serving food last time i went in. Venison wrapped in bacon was delicious. Tipple's is definitely the place to go if your looking for a great atmosphere and some of the best beer.

This shop is located on the west side of town off Tower Road. A nice quaint store that offers good wine and beer. There was only one person on staff, but didn't seem to matter. The layout is open and free. The selection was some of the best limited releases in the state. pricing was very reasonable with standard pricing of bombers from $3.99 to $12.99 for some of the high gravity brews. You can also have a beer while shopping, I had an Old Third Coast Ale and Dbl Simcoe IPA was also on tap. I would recommend this store to anyone looking for a good limited release.

A very welcoming and knowledgeable staff will help you navigate through the great beer and wine selections. They have quite a large selection in a small footprint of a store. Usually there are two beers on draft for you to choose from whilst you shop. If you have a special order for beer or wine they will do their best to get it for you. Also, their keg selection is second to none in Gainesville. Especially since they keep torpedoes of all Swamp Head Brewery's year-round brews on site. There are also gourmet and local cheeses available along with other chocolates.
Support your local owners and breweries by stopping in!

Came by here while I was in town visiting a friend... she highly recommended it as the right place to go to stock up on beers I can't get at home, and she was correct. The variety was outstanding, and I found 30 beers I couldn't get in BR easily. Their site says they support the local Swamp Head and Cigar City breweries, but I didn't see any... might have just missed them.
They had 6-pack holders available for creating your own 6-packs, and everything was sold individually if so desired. I wanted to grab some bombers as well and they were more than happy to give me a box to hold all of them.
The prices seemed reasonable, but since these were all new beers to me it's hard to really compare.
They even helped bring the second box of beer out to the car afterward. Great place, definitely check it out if you want to find some new brews.
