Pours almost black in color with an off-white head. Nose is of roasted malt with a mild chocolate and cocoa aroma. There’s a little bit of vanilla and a hint of licorice. Tastes of dark chocolate, licorice, and plenty of roasted malt. Just a hint of coffee, but it’s decently bitter. Kind of thin bodied.

On tap at Strand Brewing Company in Torrance, CA.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, coffee, and cocoa. Taste is much the same with a medium amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is that is easy to drink but I think it tastes better than it smells.
