Served from tap into a Trappe Door tulip. Poured yellow-orange with a two finger off-white head that subsided to half a finger very slowly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, earth, earth hop, spice, and spicy hop. The flavor was of sweet malt, caramel, earth, earth hop, and spice. It had a light feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this was a fairly decent brew. If I am honest, I really wasn’t that overly impressed with this one. The flavor was a little too one-sided for my liking as the earthiness was definitely the dominate factor taking place here. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it was the way this one came across that made it not as enjoyable as some others I have had from the style. Worth trying if you are a fan of earthy brews, but that is about it.

I bought this beer in the south of Holland in the best wine and beerstore from Holland. Yesterday evening my buddy Andy was at my place and we dicided to drink some nice beers. This was one of them.

Best before september 2011.

Poured in my Struise glass the beer shows itself with two fingers of foam, Fluid a bit darker yellow that i expected in a blond beer.

There is a strange smell in this beer wchich makes it unpleasant, i could not say what kind of smell but not good. Taste is good compared to the smell, just put a clamp on your nose!

I had a glass of this in Amsterdam while attending a trade show. It was one of the offerings on the floor of the show. It was not the most interesting beer I had but I have to try everything and it was certainly a welcome alternative to the ubiquitous Heineken.

Poured a clear gold color with a nice effervescent head. There wasn't much in the way of aroma but you could smell the ale yeast slightly as compared to a heineken. Flavor, again, was ok, not great but certainly interesting enough to hold my attention for 12 ounces.

330ml bottle 6,0% abv

Appearance: Poured into an original De Koninck glass. Clear golden coloured body with a good sized, foamy white head. Nothing exceptional here, just pretty much standard for blonde ale.

Smell: On first inspection, the nose also appears to be the standard pale ale malt with some simple hop aroma. Closer inspection and a little warming reveals some slightly funky yeast aroma. It's a pity the nose is rather weak, a stronger smell and a little more yeast character would have been a big improvement.

Taste: Relatively simple pale ale taste, though simple is not necessarily a bad thing. Pale malt, some traces of the yeast from the nose, a hint of orange and a decent hop flavour in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation that's unfortunately just a tad rough.

Drinkability: Nice simple pale ale that I could definitely drink a few of.

330ml traditional bottle poured into my favorite Grimbergen chalice.

This is a fair Belgium Blond. As a matter of fact, that's the sort of beer that if you drink it blindfold you will say: "That's a Belgium Blond beer" ;)

A: Cristal gold color.
S: Nice malt bouquet. A little by smoky (but I do not know why). You can really fell the Belgium yeasts (very characteristic)
T: Quite dry if compared with other Belgium Blonds like Leffe, for example. The alcohol is very evident considering its low ABV (6%).
M: Also dry. Evident ash aftertaste.
D: Good. Less sweet then other Belgium Blonds. However it tastes like it was stronger which compromises a bit its drinkability.

A: Poured a tangerine-orange with a quickly rising bright white head that was 3 fingers high soapy and actively fizzy. Unfortunately as quickly as the head rose it receded as well leveling to a polished clean surface it no time. The lacing was clean while the visible carbonation was moderately strong composed of micro bubbles that rose at a fairly rapid rate.

S: The nose had soft dried lemon peels and flowers coming through along with a light funkiness and fruitiness of apricots. A nice mixture of pale grains and soft dry wheat comes through in the malting as well providing a nice backing.

T: The flavor is crisp and bright with a fresh lemony-lime twang and semi-dried tangerines against a pale grain buttery sweetness. Notes of candy-sugar come through while a fresh lemony hopping adds a thirst quenching kiss that was wet and well received. The finish finds a soft herbal hopping with a warm fruitiness of pear juice and pineapples. Overall the flavor was bright and crisp, packing a punch alcohol wise and delivers a big bold flavor per style.

M: medium full with a crisp carbonation. Upon the swallow a nice presence of tart citrus is detected on a short lived fade.

D: Good drinkability and good enjoyability. If not for the 8%abv this would be an all day drinker for me. A bigger, hoppier and funkier version of a blond that I found mouth watering.

A crystal clear golden yellow with a fast falling two finger head that leaves a few patches of lace

S lots of yeast and some fruit and a little clove

T yeast and a little honey with a little booze

M its a little thin with not quite enough carbonation

D not a bad beer overall, easy enough to drink but nothing amazing

not on the same level as some other blonds I've had from Belgium and not worth looking for

De Koninck blond pours a light gold in color with a small white head that fades to nothing.

Soft aroma of belgian yeast and noble hop.

Light fruits on the palate, green apple and white grapes. Balanced enough though leaning to sweet. Mild grainy undertones. Grassy hop rounds everything off.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a semi-dry finish.

This is a pretty average beer here, good for sessioning. I would reccommend trying this, though it is not exceptional its still quite good.

A solid beer with some good flavors, yet nothing that jumps out at you as outstanding.
Fairly pale yellow with good carbonation and a thin but tight head, it lacks much of anything by way of aroma.
The initial taste is of barley followed by some residual sweetness.
The 6% alcohol is masked by the strong grain flavor.
I don't think I'd buy it again but I'd recommend it to someone new to Belgian beers, looking to break out of their lager mould.

A: Poured similar to the DK Amber: small, white head, and a slightly hazy body. Nice dark golden color, with some light particles floating about.

S: Have yet to be impressed by the aroma of a De Koninck beer. Here, light traces of yeast are detectable, and some alcohol as well. Is that butter I smell as well?

T: Yep, maybe that was butter... I can taste it as well. Slight bready taste as well, and a very light presence of alcohol in the finish. Goes down great, though, and opens up and improves as it warms up a bit.

M: Nice, medium body and creamy texture, with a perfect amount of carbonation.

D: Not exactly boiling over with flavor or personality, but this one is a very nice-drinking beer, and I enjoyed it a little more than the DK Amber. I wouldn't be opposed to drinking this again at all.

Had on-tap at Dr. Granville Moore's in DC.

A: A thin-looking yellow/amber brew (though not nearly as thin-looking as a typical macro lager) with a small head.

S: Faint smells with some overall hay and grass field freshness, as well as lingering fruit sweetness.

T: Light, watery honey and some resonant spiciness. Somewhat zesty and sour from a citrus fruit taste that pervades the brew.

M: Thin, somewhat watery, with a slight slickness.

D: Drinkable, but because it's like water.

A orange, yellow beer with a small head that settles.

Smell is bready with phenolic notes, that has similarities with Leffe blonde. Lots of clove and lychee.

Taste is malty with notes of bread crust and strong clove. The yeast adds a fruity and spicy layer. Bitterness is low and drinkability is good.

330mL bottle from sample pack poured into accompanying chalice. Best before date stamped on back label.

Pours a dark yellow, almost a copper. Thin white head is tightly bubbled and sinks into the beer. Minimal lacing produced.

Nose has some phenols, a sweet fruit, almost candy and just a hint of pepper or clove.

Taste is an odd mix of medicinal flavours, with some sourness and fruit sweetness mingling in the middle. Finish is bittersweet.

Mouthfeel is medium-thin with a bit of stickiness. Carbonation livens it up a little. Mildly drying finish.

While there's nothing overtly offensive about this beer, it's not that great either. I'd drink it again if handed one at a party, but I doubt I'll ever purchase it.

This poured an interestingly cloudy with little head and no lacing. Smell is somewhat sour, some strange aroma in the nose. Flavor is sweet, with a touch of sour, not too bad actually. I found this one actually improved significantly as it warmed. Mouthfeel was rather refreshing since this is a rather light bodied brew, this also made it quite drinkable too.

It's not the most attractive brew out there but it's not bad. Worth a try.

The beer pours a hazy gold honey color with excellent head retention and lacing. There is a nice citrus presense on the nose, which includes quite a bit of lemon. I was a bit worried this beer might be on the sour side, but the beer comes across as light and just a touch sweet, with just enough citrusy lemon to keep it all interesting. The beer is fairly complex with a nice interplay of different flavors. The beer has a nice light, creamy mouthfeel, and I get flavors of honey and melon, backed by the lemony citrus. This beer actually comes across as very refreshing and I could see myself knocking back a couple of these, provided I was feeling particularly flush with cash. Drinkability is this beers strong suit as the abv. is completely disguised.

Just delicious. Another fine beer from De Koninck.

Pours with a soapy white head. Little retention or lacing. Has a clear yellow color.

Smells of Belgian yeast, fruits, sweet malt, light earthy hops and sugars.

Tastes of a bit of citrus, earthy, fruity, slight biscuity malt and some spices. Not all that bad but there are certainly much better BPA's out there.

Pours a beautiful golden color with a small creamy white head that dissipates rather quickly leaving a collar. Small carbonation seen rising.

Aroma is slightly citrus, slightly hoppy, slighty sweet and slightly medicinal. As you can see, nothing jumping out.

Taste is some malts, spicy, fruits, sweetness. The flavors were light and had a slightly off aftertaste. Not a lot going on.

Mouthfeel was creamy, light, with a dry end.

Overall, an OK brew, drinkable. But, not one I would search out again. Not offensive, but not inspiring.

Deep golden in color with a dense creamy head. Smell is very floral with a metallic undertone. Taste is sharp at first with the hops adding more flavor than bitterness. The metallic taste comes on strongly in the finish. The mothfeel is soft but a bit undercarbonated. The drinkability is limited by the finish, which is just too tinny for me. I'll stick with their standard offering I think.

Poured on its original snifter glass. A nice, cloudy golden yellow body with a small and non-persistent fluffy head, with no lace. Herbal and floral smells, also slight smells of wood and caramel on finish.
Low on carbonation, this beer is very bitter, full on mouth with hop and alcohol tastes on finish, making for a dry aftertaste.

As another fellow BA member said, I expected more from this beer and the only surprise was on its interesting aromas. Overall this is an ordinary belgian beer.

pours a deep yellow with just a thin wisp of white head. head disappears almost immediately and leaves no lace.

aroma is odd. kind of unpleasant initially, sort of old sock funk. but after breathing for a few minutes it seems normal. bit of clove. bit of honey sweetness.

taste reminds me of that old-sock funk. kind of dms meets old socks. lingering unpleasant bitterness. bit of sweetness, but not enjoying this one.

mouthfeel is ok. light carbonation, medium body.

drinkability is not good. maybe this is an off bottle (which would be odd as the other 3 in the 4-pack were fine), so maybe i'll have to try this one again.

An utterly savourless beer really. A cloudy golden colour, strong pilsner malt and yeast are the only things that make up this sub-par aroma. I understand 'pilsner' carries a bad connotation in this part of Europe, but this beer is far from worthy of even the vague 'blonde'. A grainy malt bill leaves minimal lingering. Weak mouthfeel, lack of flavour. This is a generally unfavourable beer by my tastes...
