A very dark almost black beer with hints of red, a thick brown head that leaves nearly no lacing.

Smoky smell, roasted dark coffee and cocoa beans, Sweet dried fruits. Some licorice as well. Possibly a hint of iodine.

The taste is burnt bread, smoked sausage, and bitter coffee beans. Dried dates and port wine. and a dash of saltiness.

Low carbonation, a bit oily. Smooth and easy to drink.

A beer to slowly sip after dinner, distinctly sweet.

This beer comes in a dark brown 50 cl long-necked bottle. The label is black with a green field across the bottom with the name in white writing. There's a little logo in white on top of the label. Overall a very clean and nice apperance.

A: The color is pitch black with a brown large thick head that dissipates slowly into some faint lacings.

S: Fruity, I can sense cherries. Heavy roasted sweet malt. Dark chocolate and dark dried fruit.

T: Dark dried fruit and heavy roasted sweet chocolate malt. Some vanilla. Flowery and hoppy bitter.

M: The body is medium (a bit lighter than I expected) and the carbonation is light. Aftertaste is sweet and bitter and lasts for quite some time.

D: Overall a nice beer, but a bit too thin for my taste.

Served in a Riedel glass at 12.3C (54F).

A: Opaque black, very thick liquid. It's so dark there's not even a darkbrownish hue around the edges of the glass, it's pitch black. A nice big tan head formed when I poured it into the glass but it dissapeared completely within a minute.

S: Malty and sweet. Dark syrup, molasses, roasted barley and oatmeal porridge. Some honey and resin. Dark chocolate, toffee and roasted almonds.

T: Dark roasted coffee, woody aftertaste. Less sweet than smell. Very roasted and burnt flavor like burnt toast. Earthy and woody english hop bitterness and flavor like EKG. Initally quite bitter, but ends balanced and smooth in the finish. Very earthy, woody and roasted all in all, yet smooth.

M/D: Medium body and more CO2 than I expected, but zero head and little lacing leaves me with a feeling that somethings missing. Smooth and creamy on the palate but takes some time to drink.

A nice beer....but where's the foam? And I think a little less earthy and burnt flavor profile would be more desirable

Batch #104.

The colour is very dark brown, almost black. The two finger pale brown head slowly sinks down to a thick lid, leaving no lacing.

The smell is sweet with sour-bitter fruity notes, roasted, almost burned flavours of dark chocolate, green grapes and a light metallic bitterness. Quite elegant, I think.

The taste is more sour than expected. It is hoppy and bitter with lots of English flowery flavours. The alcohol is very well hidden, although the body is a little weak for the strength. Lots of roasted malts with a touch of chocolate and weak coffee. The aftertaste is sour (like dough) with some notes of coffee butterscotch and a light fruity flavour.

The carbonation is light with lots of smooth bubbles. The liquid is a little light.
