Yearling is Eagle Rock’s take on a Flanders Red sour ale that sees the inside of wine barrels for a year to develop it’s tartness and oaky flavors. Brewed in celebration of the anniversary of Eagle Rock Brewery.

Small head. Dark, red-ish brown color. Cherry, brown sugar, caramel, gingerbread in smell. Taste is similar to some Cascade sours (e.g., the kriek), albeit less sour and maybe a little less full-bodied. Generally enjoyable.

A color that straddles the line between flanders red and oud bruin, light brown head on it, decent retention, impressive lace even. Aroma was plenty of brown malt giving way to its darker color, and you get the usual dark cherry oak sourness.
Plenty sour, ample brown malt base, tad bit of oak grape tannin red wine vibe going on. Some toffee and mild sweetness. The base comes out more than the tartness in the mouthfeel. Could use more amped up fruit and sourness, the palate gets used to it and the malt and wood start to take over and become more prominent as the beer goes on.
Middle of the pack 2nd tier flanders. Good stuff.

Batch 002.
Absolutely delicious. It is a fruity bouquet on the nose with an elegantly sour and refreshing taste. Cherry and oak flavors that last for days. Exotic fruit flavors layer throughout.
This is not your typical american sour bomb. Its delicate, its drinkable, and its sweet. Not bone dry like most sour bombs It still has residual sweetness that makes this treat adult candy.
It is a must try if you really appreciate the finer sours and are not just looking for a twisted one dimensional sour bomb.
