On tap @ Tony's Darts Away in Burbank, CA. Poured into a tulip glass.

Not a huge fan of this beer. I have tried various Witbiers and know what i am getting into, but this one was so over carbonated, that i felt like i was drinking club soda. Flavors were very muted with lemon being the most prominent, but really i couldn't get over the yeast. I liked how it looked in the glass, but couldn't get over the mouthfeel to recommend it.

A - Pours a hazy golden-yellow with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.

S - Aroma is a mix of wheat, grains, lemon zest, Belgian yeast, coriander, and some other spices.

T - Starts off with a mix of wheat, lemon zest, coriander, and some grains. Through the middle, some more Belgian yeast flavors come through with some other spices and some more citrus flavors. The finish is a mix of wheat, coriander and other spices, lemon zest, and Belgian yeast.

M - Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and spicy finish.

D - Very drinkable. Good witbier. Nicely balanced and very sessionable.

Color of farmer's straw hat, over which sits a fizzy and active white head with large bubbles, which settles after a minute or three to sparse covering.

A bright nose of wheat, lemon, and spice. Smells refreshing, with some sweetness and noticeable pale malt.

Flavor dominated by the lemon and soft wheat, which adds classic smoothness of the style to mouthfeel and body. White pepper, faint floral (the rose petals? cannot directly detect). Coriander. Mild clove. The brightness of aroma does not fully translate to clear and bright flavors; there is a muddled feeling to how it comes together, and a lingering waxy/oily sensation on the palate.

Faint bitterness joins the pleasing finish. Seems like a pretty decent go at the style. I'd drink it again.

Thoroughly pleasant Wit with malty undertones. Pale yellowish with a modest foam cap. Aromas of orange peel and beery barley.

Rose petals? So they say. Spicy touch, a little peppery and salty. The light Hefeweizen esters add to the malty pleasure of this. Totally drinkable with a nice balance between the barley, spices, and hint of hops. Light bodied, as you'd expect. For the lower end of the alcohol spectrum it's quite flavorful. Another quite decent beer from Eagle Rock.

From the 22 oz bottle bought at Best Damn in San Diego.

On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours yellow with some haziness, nice head retention, some lace.

S: Coriander, white spices, lemon, no real orange.

T: Lemon and coriander dominated. Some good wheat flavour, but really nothing too substantial.

M: Crisp, light-bodied, easy going and refreshing.

O: Doesn't have a full flavour or heavy citrus which is what I like when a wit gets really good. A solid effort, enjoyable, but a poor QPR since I know what the bottle prices are.

Consumed February 14th, 2012 at Tony's Darts Away, Burbank, CA.

Beer is slightly hazy golden with a very small white head.

Aromas of lemon, coriander and musty clove.

Flavor has plenty of banana, accented by powdery Belgian yeast.
Missing are all the zesty notes promised by the nose.

Somewhat dry on the finish but lacking in the liveliness that this style is known for.

A fairly weak effort, though not a disaster. Inoffensive.

On tap at Eagle Rock Brewery in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a slightly hazy light yellow with a foamy white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Chunks of lace form on the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt/grain, spices, yeast, and some slight fruity aromas. Taste is very much the same with the spices lingering on the palate after each sip. This beer has a light level of carbonation with a crisp and clean mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is very easy drinking.

Disclaimer: I'm not a witbier lover.

That said, this is a great beer. I find myself finishing the glass and wanting another right away.

It doesn't have all the finickiness of a regular Wit, but delivers on the great flavors that i am always looking for.

Light and refreshing, this is a beer worth seeking.

Go to the Eagle Rock Tasting room and get it fresh. Can't be beat.

On tap at Stone's 15th Anniversary

A: Pale greenish color with a very thin off white head.

S: Sort of a funky wheat aroma with a touch of pale malt in the background.

T: The taste is very slow to develop. Eventually, a slight lemon and clove taste develops. My girlfriend said this beer tasted "murky" and, honestly, I can't think of a better way to put it.

I was previously not a big fan of this beer compared to Revolution and Red Velvet. Stopped by the tap room and they are out of rotation with the Revolution. Tried the Manifesto-nitro and have been converted.

The lower carbonation let the flavor come through allowing the drinker to feel the balance. The mouth feel was creamier with a refreshing feel.

Very drinkable and a nice way to end a week. Great lesson in the difference of a nitro-tap.

Growler filled at the Brewery on 9/4/10, about 20 minutes ago.

Pours a beautiful golden color, very cloudy, with a miniscule white head. Very little aroma of note, but slight floral scent comes to mind. Slight citrusy taste, maybe a bit of nutmeg. Some crispiness in the mouth gives a little but of a tingling, increasing the enjoyment.

This brew, with its low ABV, is quite easily enjoyed, especially on a hot summer day in the City of Angels.

Pours into the glass a cloudy yellow with a white, rounded head that disappears without ceremony. Would like to have seen a bit more staying power.

Smell is nice, good lemon and coriander; certainly fermented on the warmer side. A distinct sweetness carries through as well, with a odd "Juicy Fruit" note, which is a little off-putting. Yeasty.

Taste starts with notes of lemon peel, but it's quickly drowned out by a massive wave of yeast. Happy to see a little tartness in here, however. All in all, though, it's just not anything to write home about. As a point, however, it should be noted that the yeast that's in here is clean, and clear of phenols and off-flavors; a gentleman's yeast. Once again, this is carefully tuned brew. Glad to see the attention to detail.

Mouthfeel is appropriately bubbly. Starts out stiff, but fades on the swallow.

Drinkability is hurt by the above factors as well. A half-pint was plenty for me.

Lots of potential here, and perhaps it just looks less attractive in light of its inspiring Revolution and Equinox brethren. These are the challenges of setting a high bar for one's self. That being said, I think these brewers are up to it. A solid offering, all the same.
