Six Row Black IPA is our version of the IPA style made famous by Pacific Northwest brewers. It is ebony colored, with a beige head, a citrusy, resinous hop character, and a light, toasty background. Six Row Black IPA is on the top-end of the style spectrum at 7.0% ABV. It is 65 IBU from US sourced hops and is dry-hopped with Summit hops, as chosen by our customers during the 2011 St. Louis Craft Beer Week festivities. This is the perfect brew for easing out of summer and into the cool days of autumn.

Served this Black IPA in a pint glass, on tap at the brewery. It poured a nice dark maghogany color, it produced an average off white tannish head, great head retention and a nice amount of lacing left on the glass. The aroma comprised of a nice toasted malt backbone and lots of citrus. Medium bodied beer, 8%, Dry hopped with Summit Hops. The flavor of the ale has a toasted malt base, light hoppy flavor, sweet, semi bitter. Great session beer, easy to drink....a little to easy to drink for a big Imperial IPA. The amount of bitter hops in this brew leaves a little to be desired. I think this is a good session beer- I just question its beer style classification.

A: In a snifter, Coke black, small head.
S: Citrus, malty
T: The citrusy amarillo hops are the first thing you notice, then the a huge malt backbone comes in.
M: Medium, slight bitter aftertaste.
D: WAY too drinkable for an 8% ABV beer. Black IPA is a favorite of mine, since I'm not a huge hophead, the sweetness from the roasted malts works for me.
