Before going to the Distillery, it's important to keep in mind that their first and foremost goal is definitely to be a sports bar and thus they want to please the typical sports watching, Budweiser drinking crowd. That being said, however, their draft beer selection is above average when compared with the normal sports bar. They almost always have kegs from the following craft breweries: Sierra Nevada, Brooklyn, Victory, Dundee, Sam Adams, Anchor, Franzinkaner (sp) and Saranac. I know that selection is by no means overwhelming, but I think it's enough to put the Distillery above many other sports bars in the area as far as good beer selection goes. As a lover of good beer, I'll usually go to The Old Toad of Tap and Mallet for my craft beer fix. However, whenever I want to go watch a sports game but still have good beer, Distillery is almost always my first choice. They have beers that most other sports bars simply don't carry. The service isn't always the best, but the servers are always friendly, as are the bartenders.
The Distillery's food is also pretty good and fairly priced - lots of sandwiches and burgers for less than $10 and entrees between $12 and $20. They have some of the best wings in town too and if you go after 9 PM Sunday-Thursday, all of their appetizers are half off! The Distillery is definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a sports bar with good beer or have some friends with you that don't really care about good beer.

This is a great place to come hang out with friends and watch the game. However, don't expect to be blown away with options as the beer menu is limited and contains mainly domestics. Very few microbrews at all. the food was good, definitely get the chili, and the beer was cold, but not freezing (thankfully). I would recommend it to any travelers. They have big buck hunter too. Just need golden tee and its 5's every except selection. Ha. Additionally, expect a wait if ur coming on the weekend and don't expect to see an older crowd, this is definitely a place for the younger groups.

The Distillery is an exceptional gathering place for the Sports fans and it lives up it's reputation as restaurant with good eats. Having that said, it is a sports bar that offers typical domestic beers (runs about $3) but does not have the best selections for microbrews.
When you walk in, you first see the tarot card guru Zoltan sitting in the glass case just before the host stand. The Distillery has two floors with many big screen TVs with HD. The bar sits in the middle, usually one bartender on shift, depending on day. There a booths lining the entire room, so you can see the games from almost any direction.
Sometimes the Distillery offers great deals on pints and appetizers. Sunday through Thursday, they offer 1/2 off of appetizers after 9pm. The wings are VERY good - I would definitely recommend. And (sometimes) on football game nights, especially Monday night football games (and no, it doesn't have to be a Buffalo Bills game!) they offer 1/2 price pint from 7pm until the first point scored - comes out to be around $1.70. It's a great deal to have, but again, the beer selection is rather limited.
The last time I went, they had a list of about 25-30 beers. Many were St. Louis brewed, Bud Light, Heineken, etc., and only a few that I could recognize as micros. Asking for drinks and appetizers isn't a problem, but the relative service can be slow. And when it comes to actually entrees, your wait time can be long.
It's definitely a hang out place for the local college students (University of Rochester), but I would recommend this place for everyone.

A great after-work haunt with great wings and reasonably priced food of all varieties. Beer selection is limited as far as microbrews go, but a step above similar sports bars in terms of on-tap selection. They also make it a habit of having both the Sam Adams seasonal and a guest seasonal on tap at all times, as well as a Beer of the Month, which is a nice element of variety. Bottle selection definitely panders to the crowd coming in solely to watch the game and drink some light beers, but it is what it is.
As I mentioned, the food is good and the weeknight specials on appetizers are a definite plus. You can get most anything from a quesadilla to a steak and everything in between, including a great selection of burgers and sandwiches.
Service can get a little slow if there's a big game on, but they do a good job given the huge crowd they can pack in sometimes. The servers are also pretty nice and will take the time to get to know you if you stop in regularly enough.
